Take Care

C A M I

"No. Absolutely not, Colby." I yell. Not so much angrily, but in a way to get my point across. Colby's blue orbs roll and he crosses his arms over his chest. His feet are shoulder width apart and his chin is held high— he's standing his ground. Even though I felt like complete and utter hell I wasn't about to agree with him.

"I'm staying here whether you like it or not. You need someone here. I want to be here." He says calmly. The look in his eyes shows that he knows he's going to win, but if I have anything to with it he won't. I appreciate the offer but no thanks.

"Colby you need to stay at your own house. I can deal with this on my own. I've done it before. And you are definitely, one-hundred percent not paying my fucking rent. That's insane." My voice rises an octave as I speak. I feel lightheaded and sit on the couch behind me, holding a hand to my head. I play it off as exasperation in response to our conversation so as to not give him more of a reason to stay.

"Who's going to pay your rent when I won't let you leave this apartment?" He smirks. A wave of nausea rushes over me and I hunch over, leaning my head on my knees to try and ignore the room spinning around me. "Are you okay?" The sound of his concerned voice is like an echo. I ignore him and rush to the bathroom. I barely make it before the contents of my stomach are burning my throat as I lean over the toilet. Colby holds my hair back and rubs his hand over my shoulders. "Stay here," He mutters while helping me shift around to where I'm leaning on the counter. I wouldn't have gone anywhere anyway.

I can hear his bare feet sticking against the floorboards as he walks out of the bathroom, through my room and to the main part of my apartment. Cabinets squeak open and soon he comes back with two Advil and a water. "Thank you," I say quietly, my voice hoarse.

"Throwing up always gives me a headache so I figured..." He trails off and rubs the back of his neck. I lean my head back against the tub and forcefully swallow down the pills. My eyes remain closed for a few moments before I feel Colby's arms hook under my knees and back, lifting me into the air. I peak my eyes open slightly. His blue eyes shine and sparkle against the light coming through my open window. He lays me down on the bed and pulls the blankets up over my body, walking over to pull the curtains together and darken my room.

"Fine, you can stay." I give in. A smirk crosses his face and he holds a hand to his ear acting as if he didn't hear me. I hold a frown solely to show that I still want to deal with this on my own.

"I'm sorry, what was that? Couldn't hear you." He questions, furrowing his eyebrows at me. I roll my eyes and weakly toss a pillow at him. I can't help but laugh. He's good at that.
