When she saw him time slowed to a stop. He was so perfect and she knew her life would never be the same because she had finally found him. The one. The first boy she would ever kill. He had his back against a wall in the alley beside the club. She slowly walked towards him in her soft leather boots. She knew she wouldn’t regret what she was about to for it was how she was raised. The boy looked about eighteen but he was not a boy he was a demon, she could tell by his flashing green eyes and his sharp nails, almost like claws. She drew her sword from its sheath and brushed a strand of her long blonde hair behind her face. This was it she thought.

She counted to three.

..1...

she prepared herself to pounce.

..2..

she ran through what she had been taught

…3…

She sprinted and lunged her sword into the demons side and pieced its heart. She quickly stepped back to hear the demons ear piecing scream and watched it as it fell to the ground in a bundle of tentacles and finally disappeared in a ball of ash. She’d done it. She now was officially a shadowhunter she had killed her first demon. She kicked the ball of ash with her boot with a smirk on her face. She couldn't wait to tell Jace, Isabelle and Alec. They probably wouldn’t believe her. But next time they all went hunting she would for sure join them or at least tag along.

She burst through the institute doors with a smile plastered on her face.

“Jace!” she called out. “Jace! Don’t ignore me Jace.”

“There’s no point Rose.” Alec said as he trudged down the stone staircase. “He’s busy saving the life of a mundane.”

“Very funny, what happened Alec?” Rose giggled.

Alec sighed in frustration , “Jace came in earlier with some red head mundane who he said was possibly dying and simply applied a rune to her and now is supposedly nursing her back to health.”

Rose raised an eyebrow, “If she’s a mundane then that rune must have killed her? She is obviously another one of Jace's girlfriends and he's trying to have an excuse of why she's here.”

“she doesn't look like Jaces girlfriend, I mean she doesn't dress like it, she's not in shadowhunter gear or a short skirt. She probably has some shadowhunter blood in her but she is not one of us, she wasn't raised like us, for all we know she could be a serial killer.” Alec said as he walked off in a huff.

“Oh calm down Alec, what’s the worst she could do?” Rose called out to Alec as he walked away. Alec didn't even notice that there was dried demon blood on her leather jacket or the fact that her long golden curls were tangled up. Rose sighed and began to walk to the infirmary.

Rose looked around the door. It was as bad as Alec said she thought. There was Jace hovering over the red head, she’d never seen him like this before, he looked like he would take a bullet for her, which is what he might have to do if Alec hates the red head that much. Jace brushed a strand of the girls hair away from her face and placed a cold towel on her forehead. She felt bad for Alec she knew the way he felt about Jace and to see this would have for sure broke his heart more than it broke hers. She walked away unable to comprehend things. She hadn’t even got to tell everyone about the first demon she killed. She trailed back to her room her smile was now replaced with a frown.

After Rose had got changed out of her gear she headed to the library to try and distract herself with a book from the confusion caused from the girl. Rose had always admired Jace from a distance, he didn't seem like the kind of guy that would want a relationship to her. He always kept things to himself and never opened up to anyone. She guessed it was understandable being as he watched his father die but after all the time he's been at the institute he'd only opened up to her one time and that was when they were 13 and he told her about his father, but after that he'd never spoken about his past before so she felt she had to do the same, no one needs to know about her past, no one would care really. She was just a orphan that was left at the institute when she was a baby. Nothing interesting. Rose grabbed the nearest book she could find, anything would do to distract her. Oh brilliant she thought. She had picked up 'Of mice and men', "Just what I need another depressing book." She muttered to herself.

Just as she began to read the first page the library door slowly opened. Rose snapped her head round to see Jace and no other than the red head. This should be fun she thought. She  gracefully stood up and walked towards the two, her blond locks cascading down her back. She came to a stop and turned to the red head. She spoke in a manner like someone would speak to the Queen. "Pleasure to meet you, my name is Rosaline Lovelace."
