Rowan and I walked to school together.
We haven't talked much.
"You shouldn't even be involved." She mumbled.
"What?" I asked looking at her as we walked side by side.
"You said whatever happened, Jensen did it. It wasn't you." Rowan reminded me.
I nodded.
"I'm sorry." She mumbled.
"It is what it is. Hell, I probably was there when Jensen did whatever he did. I was always near him. Like a lost puppy." I sighed.
"You don't deserve this though." Rowan commented.
"None of us do. Elisia stole a bear for fucks sake." I grumbled.
Rowan chuckled.
I ended up laughing with her.
"I know we aren't close, but I'm here for you. You know that right?"
Rowan asked slipping her hand onto mine.
I held her back and smiled.
"I know." I confirmed.
After a few more minutes we were at the school.
We began walking up the stairs and entered the building.
"I have chem." Rowan said.
I nodded.
"My rooms next to yours. I need to make up the work I've missed already."
I said as we started towards the stairs leading to the second floor.
"Hey." Rowan said to that kid I've seen around her before.
Hailey said his name was Eric or something like that.
Eric and his friend stopped and he said hi back.
I noticed the box in Eric's hand.
Rowan's eyes darted to it too.
"Rebels donuts." I mumbled.
His eyes flicked to me.
For a moment it looked like he knew me.
Like he hated me even.
Just as quickly he looked back at Rowan and looked normal.
"That note was from you to meet after the assembly." Rowan said obviously feeling bad about not going.
He shrugged.
"It's okay. Greg came." Eric said smiling at her.
Greg nodded.
"You missed out." Greg commented.
"Hey you guys want one?" Eric offered.
He looked at me and had a smile on this time.
He opened his box and Rowan responded first.
"Yeah defiantly. Oh, sprinkles." She said grabbing one she wanted.
He turned the box to me.
"I'm okay. Thank you." I said shaking my head.
He closed his box and turned to Rowan.
She took a bite and gasped.
"Mm that's so good. You've saved my life." She said with a mouth full.
She held her donut up and pointed her phone at it.
She snapped a picture.
"Good right?" Eric asked.
