I woke up earlier than anyone in the house.

I always have.

I've showered and pulled my hair into a messy bun.

I've slipped on my black choker with a flower in the center.

I have on a large white hoodie and black baggy sweats.

I like being comfy and for the last six months I've only wore sweats.

That was kinda the dress code.

I slipped my glasses on and then my shoes.

It's 7:40 am.

Mom got home nearly two hours ago.

Mick on the other hand I can hear now.

He just came down the stairs.

"Hey. Maddie. Are you awake?"

He knocked on my door.

I opened it.

"I'm always the first up. You don't have to try to wake me up. I've got it."

I took notice he didn't have a shirt on.

"Maybe also try to have a shirt on around me." I added.

He sighed as I walked upstairs and into the kitchen.

I grabbed a water and slipped it my shoulder bag.

I started walking towards the door.

"Wait. Maddie. Hold up." Mick called to me.

I sighed and turned with my hand still on the door knob.

"I understand this is rough for you and I'm sorry, but I think you have to get used to me being here. This is my home now too."

He defended himself. I smiled.

"That's the issue Mick. It isn't your home, or at least it shouldn't be."

He sighed.

I turned to leave.

"Wait shouldn't you get dressed?" He asked.

"I am." I spat.

"You know you don't have to wear sweats anymore. You can dress the way you want." He responded.

"Thanks for the permission."

I left quickly.

I closed my locker and turned to see Rowan rushing down the hall.

She looked upset.

I imagine those jokes are still being made about her mom.

I was only gone six months, but that happened a year ago.

I have Ms. Dawson, English first.

I love reading and writing so this should be a good class.

I headed towards class.

I walked in and took my seat in the back corner.

The bell rang.

I saw other kids start to pile in.

I rolled my eyes seeing Nicki and Hailey walk in.

Great.

Sean was with them.

I don't mind him.

He's never been an ass to me.
