"Way to give me a fucking heart attack," He breathes. His face falls back down into the pillow and I grip his shoulder, rolling him over onto his back and moving to where I was straddling him so he wouldn't fall asleep again.
"I have food," I say with a smile, drawing out 'food'. He quirks an eyebrow at me as I intertwined our fingers and rest our hands next to his head. I was in a better mood than I had been in weeks— better than I had been in months, actually.
"Oh, do you?" Colby questions with a laugh. I nod and bite my lip, leaning down to kiss him quickly. I wasn't sure what had suddenly come over me for me to be so loving and cuddly but neither of us seemed to mind. He stared up at me silently for a moment before releasing my hands and pulling my face back down, our lips meeting again. His hands moved down and gripped my hips, squeezing softly as I cupped his cheeks. For some reason I pulled away, hesitating slightly.
"Our food is getting cold," I mutter, biting my lip out of awkwardness. His lips are pink and swollen and both of our cheeks mirror a shade of pink. I roll off of him and stand, pulling him up by his arms as we both laugh at my struggle. We head into the kitchen and I begin unpacking our food as Colby rewarms his coffee that had cooled off on the ride here. We took our things to the couch and plopped down next to each other, my legs thrown over Colby's, which he uses as a makeshift table for his plate.
I reach for the remote and flick on the TV, Spongebob appearing on the screen. There's no point in changing it so we both watch in silence. Neither of us speak much, merely to avoid the fact that Colby returns home today. It isn't like we'll never see each other again. We'll see each other all the time, just like before. I'm just not sure if I want my feelings that I've developed to leave with him, or to stay.
Colby's bags were already packed and by the door. I made sure to sneak a hoodie or two away from him while we were packing. It was about an hour until he had to meet Sam to film, and we both looked over to each other at the same time. I smiled softly and he placed his hand on my leg, squeezing it softly. "My offer still stands for you to be in the video. It'll be fun," He says, going back to the offer I received from him and Sam to film with them.
"I'm just not feeling like myself enough to be on camera. Plus, I have to start working on my own channel." I respond, swinging my legs off his lap. "Go, film, have fun. I'll see you later." I shove his shoulder softly with a laugh and we stand, me slightly behind him to the door. The awkwardness of a goodbye begins to settle in and I rock on my heels.
"Text me if you need anything." Colby says and I nod, wrapping my arms around his neck and his around my waist. I burrow my face into the nape of his neck and sigh, causing goosebumps on his skin.
I don't like how quiet my apartment is. I haven't moved from my spot next to the door because, honestly, I don't really know what to do now that he's not here. Maddox walks out of my room and I decided to walk him, considering that it's almost that time anyway. As soon as I grab the leash his tail starts wagging happily and I laugh, clipping it to his collar. I slip my phone into my pocket, and grab my sunglasses and keys before leading Maddox out of the apartment.
It isn't too cold, but the slight breeze causes goosebumps to arise on my skin. Maddox walls happily ahead of me down the sidewalk. A few people stop to pet him but I don't mind, considering he's the biggest teddy bear. I turn the corner to head down our usual path and smile when I see Adrianna walking in my direction, eyes trained on her phone. I bump her shoulder with mine and she looks up as if she's ready to confront someone, but her face softens when she sees me. I can't help but laugh as she pouts at me.
"Dammit, I was getting ready to go off on someone." She said, now slightly laughing. I pulled her into a much needed embrace. A guilty feeling settled in my stomach from her now knowing what he been going on but I still wasn't going to tell her. She's been burdened with this enough in our friendship.
"Please tell me you don't have any plans today." I pout and she smiles.
"I was actually heading to your apartment." Adrianna responds. I smile brightly and pull Maddox closer to me as a few people walk by. "Who's ready for some much needed girl time?" She asks enthusiastically.
"Fucking hell, me." I mutter while shaking my head. We both laugh and make small talk as we walk back to my apartment, arms looped through each other's and Maddox happily walking along next to us.
