Thomas González remembered the last time he got a silver amount of attention and was one hundred percent okay with it, he was young very young when his mother hugged him when he got through one book without getting distracted. It was a small book but nevertheless his mother was proud of him.

The memory of that night made it easier to face his empty shell of a father, made every harsh blow and strike softer, made the sleepless nights and nightmares a lot more worth it because he could still remember his mother and her warm embrace.

No other embrace or even a silver of attention could compare to that.

It wasn't like he had much to compare it too anyway, he just waited for the day he would stop gaining sympathy and just fail school. But things weren't going as planned and maybe just maybe he could find comfort in attention again.
