42. a graduation worth remembrance

Start from the beginning

I cursed under my breath, growing more annoyed by the second as he laughed to himself.

As we were going around another bend, I tried hitting my brakes to smooth out the turn a little bit- but for some reason my brakes weren't working.

I looked over to see Tyrant's expression, and obviously he saw me struggling to slam on the brakes. He was laughing even harder now, throwing his head back with glee.

Somehow I doubted that he was the only one in on this sabotage-type sh*t.

To get into the garage where my car was at, you had to be authorized. There was only one person with the power to let anyone into the area where my car was parked

That was Luigi.

Luigi didn't do anything without Phantom's permission. He was well aware of the fact that if he did something to jeopardize this race he'd be murdered.

Possibly literally.

I knew Luigi was a fool, but not that much of a fool. Phantom's voice suddenly echoed in my head

"Race Tyrant anyway, even if you lose"

It suddenly made sense

I wasted no time in unbuckling myself from the seat. Naturally being a racer, I had to imagine different scenarios. Like this one. When jumping out of a moving vehicle, it was best to try to land on your shoulder, so opening my car door- I jumped out.

At the speed of over 100mph

There was no way I would escape this without getting all kinds of fucked up, possibly even dying- but I didn't want to die. Even if there was a big percentage of me dying by jumping out of the car, I would inevitably die if I stayed in the car with Tyrant continuously slamming his car against mine and no working brakes. All that was running through my mind was that it was too soon for death

I had things left unfinished. It's crazy when you realize that you actually don't want to die in contrast to wanting to die just a few years ago

Now, I wanted to live. I saw a future beyond my f*cked up present.

Live.

Felicity's POV

I didn't get in the car with Ansley. Instead, once I was sure that the coast was clear- I walked right back towards the sidelines.

As I brushed past a group of girls I heard one of them frantically speaking.

"Meilani just texted me. She said Roar just jumped out of his car, sh*t was insane."

"Was it moving?" One of the girls gasped dramatically

"Duh hoe, it was moving." The first girl said.

I began to run.

This was racing, if he jumped out of a moving car then who knew how damaged he would be after that- and I doubted anyone would jump onto the tracks to get him off.

As I ran through the stuffy crowd, I heard bits and pieces of conversation.

"Tyrant is a beast." A guy laughed

"Is he moving at all?"

I pushed harder through the crowd, ignoring the agitated grunts and even the occasional grope.

Finally I was in the front.

It took me a moment to spot Anthony, but when I did I was already tearing up.
