"No way. I'm not lonely at all." Knock dismissed my proclamation, and tried to extricate himself from my arms.  I wasn't about to let him dismiss me so easily, I pulled his body tightly against me and trapping his arms so he couldn't escape.

"Look me in the eyes and say that again, don't lie to me."

Knock really looked at me, just as I'd asked. He stared at me, as if he was trying to get a look inside my head.

"I don't.. I don't know." He said. I playfully grabbed a pillow and covered his face, which he grabbed and used it to prop himself up. He looked at me and opened his mouth to speak, but it seemed like the words died in his throat while they were trying to escape.  Instead, he hauled himself off the bed, and with his back turned to me, said simply:

"I'm gonna take a shower."

With that calm statement from him, he limped into the bathroom without another word. I raised my eyebrows at his tall figure as he disappeared into the washroom, my eyes narrowing.

I know he understands everything I've been trying to tell him.

He just needs some time to turn everything over in his mind.

My exams ended the following week and at last,  my long awaited holiday arrived. Yiwha and I had decided that we weren't just going to stay home and sleep for the next six months, I guess we'll play around until we get bored!

Knock had  finally gotten his splint taken off, and he quickly resumed his usual behavior, as naughty as a monkey. A lot had happened between us during the time he was injured, and now that he'd been freed,  we had become distant from each other. I didn't realize that something worse was going on behind the scenes .

Then one day, Knock asked to meet at a nearby café. Yiwha was nagging that she wanted to come with me, because she hadn't seen Knock for a long time. Knock was late as usual, and we were chatting while waiting for him.

"How've things been between you recently?" Yiwha asked while looking at me in worry.

"Same as always."

I answered with reserve, just like my personality.

"Which means you still see each other every day?" Yiwha asked again, I shook my head.

"Not recently. I'd say he's been MIA recently, the last time I saw him was last week; he told me he was gonna break up with his girlfriend, and then he fell off the face of the earth. I was busy with my exams, you know that." Yiwha sighed after listening to me.

"You're such an easy rival in love. Do you think that vicious woman would let go of Knock so easily?"

"Hey." I looked directly at Yiwha. "You don't have to throw Knock at me all the time."

"Don't act like I'm a dumb, okay? You know it, I know you like him, but why do you stop me every time I try to help? I'm trying my best to help you out! " Yiwha lifted her chin defiantly as she spoke to me, as if I was really an idiot.

"Wouldn't you get tired if you chased after someone constantly and still nothing changed?" I asked.

"Of course I would." Yiwha answered right away and I nodded.

"Yeah, I'm tired now, exhausted even. I wanna rest, but it doesn't mean I that I've given up. I'm just regrouping mentally."

My feelings for Knock hadn't changed, they were just as strong as ever. But Knock's constant indecisiveness was severely damaging to my self-esteem. We can do anything for the person we care about, but when you only see the person's back as they walk away from you, you start to feel defeated and want to give up.
