Chapt. 31

After a while, I put it in the oven and wait for it to bake. While waiting I check on the decorations again and make sure the restaurant is going smooth.

I come back into the kitchen and just in time the timer rings. I take out the cake and let it sit for a while then decorate it a little giving it a masculine affect?

My phone started ringing and picked it up without looking at the ID caller.

"Hello?" I ask.

"Elen-" I cut that douche bag off.

"What the hell do you want?" I ask frustratedly.

"A second chance. Please. Just let me explain everything." He pleads.

"No. I've seen what I needed to see. The biggest mistake of my life. You." I say coldly. Tears were forming in my eyes as I recalled that night.

"Please. Please Lena. I love you." He begged softly.

I hung up. I couldn't hear any of his excuses anymore.

I ran out the kitchen and out of the hotel using the back door from the kitchen.

I cried silently with the silence of the abandoned alley.

But then I thought to myself.

My mascaras are too expensive to waste on a douchebag.

I wiped my tears using the back of my hand and I looked at my hand only to find smeared mascara. Yay.

How the hell am I supposed to go to the washroom without anyone noticing my messy state?

This was all that douchebag, Steve's fault. Why did he have to cheat on me with that bimbo? Why can't I be happy? When will I get my happiness? When will I be one with the light and leave the dark?

I sighed and got up.

I walked into the kitchen with my head down low and grabbed my clutch.

After that, I went out of the kitchen with my head low.

I cursed myself for not having a staff's washroom nearer to the staff's room.

I literally ran into the bathroom and thank God no one is in here.

I went to the sink and mirror to look at my messy state and started to fix my makeup then my hair and done. Magic!

I grinned in satisfactory as I stared at myself. From mess to yes.

I left the washroom and went inside the staff room.

"Hey guys! Are our clients here yet? Remember they're very important so be careful okay?" I say trying to keep a smile on my face.

"You okay boss?" Blake asked concerned. He probably saw through me.

My smile faltered.

"I'm fine. Are the clients here yet?" I ask softy.

"Yeah, they're in the VIP room waiting for the birthday boy." Laura looks at me with sympathy.

I try giving them a small smile but gave a sad one instead. I stopped trying and sighed.

"He called me." I said that and they all gave me a chorus of how I'm better off without him and encouraging comments.

"Thanks guys. Now go. Blake, Laura, Gracie and Tyler, you guys will be assisting the very important guests okay. Get me if they need anything." I say.

They all nodded and left. I went out to get some air.

I went to the back for some privacy but I just realised how stinky it is there.

I sighed and went to the front instead.

I sat on the bench in front of the hotel and think about stuff.

How is my family doing?

Probably better off without me.

I wished I never lost my memory. Then everything would've been much better. I wonder how much I've forgotten. For some reason, I always feel like there's something or someone missing in my life. Did I forget someone important? If I did, does he still think about me? He probably doesn't. I wonder what that person would look like.

A face flashed in my mind for a brief second and I recognised him from earlier this morning.

I closed my eyes.

Inhale.

"Ellie I love you."

Inhale.

"You're the best."

Inhale.

"Loving You was the biggest mistake I made."

Exhale.

What the actual fûck?

I opened my eyes when I heard my phone ringing.

I picked it up again not looking at the callers ID.

"Hey boss. The clients are asking for you. They want to meet the boss." Blake says.

"Sure. I'm on my way." I say and hang up.

I take a deep breath and put on a smile.

I walk back into the restaurant and thankfully only a few people looks at me.

I knock on the VIP room door and a bunch of eyes are on me.

Some familiar eyes.

"Ashton?" I look at him confused.

"Ella?" The guy from the office earlier looks at me shocked. What is he doing here?

"Holy shit." Another voice says.
