(Being very vague with this one)
OC/Character and Character/OC are in a happy and healthy relationship. Well, the two were until that fateful night.
While OC/Character and Character/OC were walking down the streets of Brooklyn/Manhattan together, something happens to Character/OC(Delancey encounter, accidentally dragged into a neighboring fight, crazy drunkard attacking them, etc.), making Character/OC badly injured and almost dead. OC/Character begs for/tries to get Character/OC to stay awake, but fails to do so. They're gone...forever.
After Character's/OC's death, OC/Character glances up to see the source of Character's/OC's passing, getting into a violent fight with the source of whoever caused Character/OC to die.
Long story short, OC/Character wound up in jail because of it, and is currently in their cell while they have vivid flashbacks of Character's/OC's death.
