Rylee felt like she was flying as her boyfriend,Tristan, squeezed her hand then kissed her cheek. Just being next to him was enough to make her heart race. They walked up the driveway and stopped at the front door of her house. How many girls were lucky enough to have a guy who was loved by her family and willing to help her dad with his "weird projects?"
Her father was a mysterious man. He has made many unusual gadgets that you would think belonged in a james bond movie. He was almost like a detective or a spy, but he didnt work for anyone. Or that's what everyone was led to believe. But Rylee knew the truth.
She walked in on him talking on the phone with his "client". Snooping around his office for weeks, she finally found a quickly scribbled down note of their meeting place. Of course she stakedd it out and discovered that he was working for none other than Silver City's very own superhero.
The Phoenix is what they called him and he was very much like a teenage batman. He wasn't the only super in the city, but he was definitely one of the most well known. An extraordinary seventeen year old boy with awesome gadgets and crime fighting ability. Not to mention his unstoppable firepower and the ability to rise from the dead. He was seemingly unbeatable and the public loved it. He was definitely impressive in every source of the term. He was the reason the crime rate in the city had gone down so drastically.
"Have i ever told you that i love you?" Tristan asked snapping her attention back to the present moment. He looked like a prince from a fairy tale with his pretty cheekbones and longer face. His dark brown hair hung in front of his hazel eyes as he took a step closer to her. He was much taller than her so he had to look down to make eye contact. Tristan had this way of making her feel like they were the only two in existence when he looked at her like that. Rylee laughed.
"Only every five minutes..." she rolled her eyes playfully and looked up at him from under her lashes. He was so close to her that her heart beat just a little faster than usual. He gave her his ridiculous goofy grin and hugger her.
"Well that's because it's true. And a girl like you deserves to hear it at least a hundred times a day." he whispered and kissed the top of her head. He was definitely the romantic type. Straight out of any book you've ever read. The boy every girl dreams of meeting. He read her poetry, danced with her whenever he got the chance, and frequently told her how much he loved her. He was almost perfect and never failed to make her smile.
"I know." Rylee answered simply. Tristan sighed and stepped back, his smile faltering ever so slightly. Guilt rose in her chest. He always said he loved her but she never said it back. She could see how much it bothered him but she was saving it for the perfect moment. She wanted to make sure she meant it. He deserved that much.
Tristan cleared his throat. "Are you ready?" he asked. They were supposed to have some fancy dinner with her family to celebrate the first day of summer, so tristan was dressed in a nice suit which he had not buttoned all the way and a loose royal blue tie. She was dressed in a pretty blue, silk blouse and a pair of black skinny jeans to match him.
Rylee grabbed his hand, trying to bring back his smile. When that didn't work she kissed him on the cheek. Finally he smiled and gave her a wink as he knocked on the door. There was no answer. They knocked again and heard shuffling inside.
The first thought that went through her mind was that maybe it was a surprise party but then she heard a strangled cry. Rylee furrowed her brows in confusion. Did someone just fall? Was Something wrong?
There was a crash on the other side of the door and then they heard the sound of someone running toward the door. Tristan pushed her behind him protectively and yanked it open.
