"What do you think?" Jimin retorted. Yoongi raised an eyebrow at him, tilting his head.
"What do you think I would do in a place like this, with people all around us?" Jimin considered his words; it was true, he would have to be insane to pull a stunt in front of all of these people. He stared at Yoongi for a moment more with suspicion before reluctantly closing his eyes. "Now, hold out your hand." Though he hesitated again, Jimin eventually did as he said, offering over his hand with his palm up. Yoongi reached into his pocket, and then placed in Jimin's hand a small velvet box. Regardless of not being told to, Jimin opened his eyes and Yoongi opened the box to show him a ring. It was simple, but really quite beautiful--bright silver in color with intricate, engraved details all around it. Jimin's eyebrows furrowed, his eyes showing signs of discomfort.
"... What is this?" he asked quietly. Really, he wanted to ask what his intention was, but he had struggled to find words at all. Yoongi looked at him with just a hint of tenderness, unable to hide it from his eyes now. Jimin recognized his expression and felt his heart begin to race; he wasn't sure why.
"A present," Yoongi replied. He saw the vulnerability in Jimin's eyes and, instead of choosing to be sarcastic with him, he allowed himself to be sentimental. "Do you like it?" Jimin turned his eyes to the ring and stared at it for a long time. In reality, he did like it. But he sighed to himself and closed the velvet box, setting it on the table and sliding it back toward the man across from him.
"I can't accept this," he said numbly. Yoongi looked at him with impatience.
"Why not?"
"You know exactly why," Jimin said, stubbornness coming over him again. "There's a million reasons why." He didn't want to outright admit that he loved Taehyung; it seemed like Yoongi should have already known that much. It was almost as though the man thought that a gift was enough for him to be wooed, making Jimin unsure on whether to criticize himself for coming off as materialistic, or to criticize Yoongi for thinking that he was so shallow.
"You can't buy affection from people. At least, not with me."
"If you don't take it now," Yoongi said, his voice starting to sound confrontational, "Then I'll make sure it gets to you later. Do you really want that?"
Jimin tensed, knowing how easily Yoongi had seemed to get into his apartment before, and he gulped at the idea of him pulling such a trick when Taehyung was nearby. Jimin breathed in and released an aggravated sigh, wrath coming back to his eyes, yet he slowly raised his hand and reached out for the box. But all of a sudden Yoongi, without warning, slammed his hand quickly down on the box, causing Jimin to freeze mid-reach.
"Let me make something clear to you," he whispered hoarsely. "If you really want to keep me happy, and keep the people you care about safe, you'll wear it without argument. Understood?" Jimin's eyes widened with shock at the intensity of his threat, and then burned with more wrath than ever before. Yoongi looked him straight in the eyes, pushing the box toward his hand. In turn Jimin, without taking his eyes off of Yoongi's, opened it and put the ring on his right ring finger.
"Are you happy now?" he snapped, clenching his teeth. Yoongi gave a nod, looking at him with such calmness that it made Jimin even more furious. But the man either didn't notice or didn't care; he still delighted somewhat in Jimin's darker side, in his harsh eyes and the way he held himself with more confidence when he was so frustrated.
"Quite happy," he replied smugly before biting his lip as he surveyed the blond.
The ride back home was at first almost as quiet as the way there. Jimin couldn't even bring himself to look at Yoongi until he started speaking.
