Three years. It had been three years since you had left Komogare-the Village Hidden by clouds-to track and report on the Akatsuki's movements. In response to their recent growth in power, you had been given the mission of spying on them and informing your superiors of any actions that could jeopardize the village. This meant you had been constantly on the go. They had chosen you for your unique spying abilities but also due to your trusty companion's ability to deliver messages safely and discreetly.

Taiyo, perched on your shoulder, ruffled her warm colored feathers. Her claws were slightly digging into your worn out bomber jacket. You gave her a treat from your pocket, whistling a couple notes to which she responded with her own melody. Taiyo, named after the sun, was one of the few remaining Phoenixs left on earth, after decades of being hunted for their mystical properties. Pheonixs were also known as untamable creatures, and most people who tried to own them failed and ended up with high degree burns. But, Taiyo entered your life a few years ago, and for some reason, never left after that.

You made your way to the Raikage's office. Taiyo flew away towards the surrounding forest. You knew she would be eager to reunite with her favourite cherry blossom tree. You winced as you climbed the stone stairs. Your fight had left a large cut on your right leg and the stitches you had clumsily attempted to sow were threatening to come out. The village's Raikage welcomed you in his office.

"Y/N Uchiha," he greeted you.

"Your excellency" you bowed. "It's Y/N Daremo now," you corrected him.

"Yes. Welcome back. As you know, due to your identity being compromised, we had to cancel your mission."

You mean after I was discovered and had to fight my way out of being transformed into a human puppet, you thought as you recalled your fight with Sasuri. "I am sorry I failed you," you stated sadly.

The Raikage paused and looked at you. You could sense there was more.

"Y/N," he started, indicating for you to take a seat. "Sometimes after you left, the Uchiha clan residing in Konoha was attacked. All but one were eliminated and the clan was destroyed. I am sorry, but your family members are gone Y/N."

You froze at the sound of the Raikage's words, gripping the leather arm chairs of your seat. You hadn't identified as a Uchiha for so long. You had renounced that name upon learning that your parents had adopted you. Both from the Uchiha clan, your parents were part of the individuals who believed that the Konoha Military Police Force-build by and composed of Uchiha clan members-was only created out of the 2nd Hokage's suspicions of the clan. Your parents believed that the Police Force was only meant to be a distraction and, ultimately, limited the Uchiha clan from having any real political implication in the village. After numerous attempts at convincing their peers to rebel, your parents' plotting was discovered and, as a result, they were banned from the village.

During their travels away from the Leaf Village, they had encountered a baby who had been abandoned in the forest. That baby was you and until your parents' passing you had believed yourself to be a Uchiha. The feeling of betrayal and not knowing where you really came from had led you to change your last name to Damero meaning "no one". Uchiha or not, the news of the clan's massacre felt like a punch in the stomach. You had no knowledge of who your biological family was, your parents were dead and now so were their relatives. You didn't have any ancestors or history anymore. This felt like a fitting narrative for the last name you had chosen.

"I am sorry I did not tell you this before Y/N. The news would have distracted you during your mission and we simply could not take that risk." Said the Raikage before taking a brief pause. He resumed, "But as I said, there is one Uchiha left."

"As you know, your excellency; I no longer consider myself a Uchi..."

"Not you," interrupted the Raikage, "Sasuke-Fugaku and Mikoto's youngest-he survived the attack. He is still alive and living by himself in the Leaf Village. Apparently he is training to become a ninja."

Sasuke, you thought. The name rang a bell. Mikoto was your father's sister, meaning Sasuke was your cousin. However, because of your parent's banishment you had never met any of your relatives. Nevertheless, you felt an immense sadness for the boy, imagining how devastated and vulnerable he must be feeling.

"The Hokage is worried about him," continued the Raikage, "For the past years the boy has had no one and shuts out anyone who tries to help him. But Sasuke is said to have many talents and to have a promising potential that far surpasses the one of many shinobis." Your superior walked to his desk, grabbing a folder.

"Y/N, I want you to visit your cousin. Make ties with him. Who knows maybe he could join our ranks someday? In any case, I want to know more about the Last Uchiha and evaluate the Leaf's current strengths."

You frowned knowing that the Raikage's primary goal wasn't to reunite a family but to gather insight on the Leaf. It was no secret that the Leaf Village had a Jinchuriki, a piece of information that you knew sat uneasily with your ruler. Even as allies, you had to remain aware of your neighbour's talents, as they could potentially become a threat should a conflict arise. Sending you for a "family" visit was an easy way to do so.

"Of course your excellency," you answered knowing that trying to argue your way out of this was a lost cause.

"Excellent. I will inform the Leaf's Hokage of your arrival. However, I do suggest you head on to the hospital beforehand" said the Raikage pointing towards your leg.

You gasped at the sight of your pants soaked in blood by the—clearly reopened—gash on your leg.
