"Come on bubba. You can do it." I encouraged as Charli took tiny steps towards me. He hesitated for a bit after I moved further away from him before plopping down and taking a seat on the creme colored carpet.
He clapped and smiled at me as if he'd accomplished a lot in the little time that we'd been out in the apartment hallway. I chuckled and scooped him up, putting him back into his walker so I could make us both something to eat.
Stefan was out with Isabella school shopping and I decided I'd stay here and watch my child like the parent I was.
It had been a good couple of months. Maybe six, that things had went down. I was provided therapy sessions via my dad. As well as Isabella. Stefan on the other hand declined and insisted that he was fine after watching me almost get raped in front of him and my daughter.
He didn't get charged with the murder of Caleb Hummel. Only a slap on the wrist which consisted of time on probation and anger management classes that he most definitely didn't need, but went anyways.
"Bubba you want some fruit?" I asked him. He bounced in his seat and held out his hand as I handed him a sliced piece of banana. Then stuffed it in his mouth after squishing it around in his hand. This went on for a while as I cooked until I was finally done with the Mexican rice and beans. I made a big plate for me and him to share then went to turn on the living room TV.
He followed behind me and we sat eating for a while until he turned his head away from me. Signaling that he was full now. Then in came Bella and Stefan with bags of clothes that they'd purchased.
"Y'all ate without us?" Stefan said to me as I got up and rinse off my plate.
"We were hungry. I made rice and beans." I said to him. He looked inside the pots and nodded.
"I'm starting to think you don't know how to cook." He teased. I looked over at him and rolled my eyes.
"I do know how to cook. I just don't cook meat because that's not in our diet anymore. If you want to eat meat, cook it and eat it outside of this apartment." I said to him. He chuckled and moved to kiss my cheek, but I'd moved away before he could.
Me and him had a good home dynamic going on. I didn't wanna ruin it by something so small like a relationship, especially with my kids involved. He was the paper chaser and I was the one that kept the apartment up while he worked.
Cliche family shit that worked for us.
I believe the weirdest thing for me was going to graduation and not hearing Sabrina's name being called. I hadn't seen Ms. Jackson when I went back to school either, but I'd managed to catch up with Babe who acted strange every time she saw me or I asked her how she felt about Sabrina's passing.
"It's like that?" He asked me as he stood in my personal space. I nodded.
"Yeah. I like you, but I don't like you that much. We talked about this before Stefan. I don't want a relationship with you. We just have a mutual agreement." I said as I turned to him and nudged him out of my way before going and pulling Charli out of his seat to clean him up.
Then went and sat in the bed watching Isabella pick through clothes at the foot of it. I looked up as he held his head in defeat at the door, cleared his throat before looking back up at me and shaking his head.
"We didn't talk about it Yel. I kissed you, you kissed me back and what mutual agreement?" He asked me curiously. He rubbed his temple and came to sit down in the bed on the other side of me while Charli crawled around me, latching on to my back before crawling into my lap and laying against me.
