I felt so blessed, that day that we met,
I felt so happy, when you chose me.
Etiquette and poetic romance,
Cigarettes and a damn good slow dance,
Maybe this time our love is pure,
But maybe it's not, I'm not sure.
I've had my fair share of love,
Most of the time it was just lust,
I don't know what to push or what to shove,
I don't know if my heart is reliable enough to trust.

This connection is so messy, messy,
What we have is so fucked up,
This connection is so crazy, crazy,
But that's what makes us, us.
Every time that I say we're through,
I find myself running back to you,
Tell me what I have to do,
To get me to stop loving you.

I remember our first date,
Took you to a bar that I knew you'd hate.
I don't why I ever felt that way,
I think my gut feeling went astray.
But, even though what we have is testing,
I like it more and more, I think we're a blessing.
Pearl necklaces and cotton sheets,
Romantic chases and perfect dreams,
What we could have, if we weren't in so deep.

This connection is so messy, messy,
What we have is so fucked up,
This connection is so crazy, crazy,
But that's what makes us, us.
Every time that I say we're through,
I find myself running back to you,
Tell me what I have to do,
To get me to stop loving you.

I know this isn't the kind of love poem I usually write,
But I'm feeling more liberated, alone every night.
I'm questioning everything I thought I once knew,
And that, my dear, unfortunately includes you.

This connection is so messy, messy,
What we have is so fucked up,
This connection is so crazy, crazy,
But that's what makes us, us.
Every time that I say we're through,
I find myself running back to you,
Tell me what I have to do,
To get me to stop loving you.
