"Just a friendly reminder, parent / teacher are tonight." Mr. Harris says. "Student's below a C average are required to attend. I won't name you, because the shame and self-disgust should be more than enough punishment." He stops and looks over to Stiles and I.

"Has anyone seen Scott McCall?" He asks. We had homeroom together and he didn't show. The silence breaks when Jackson walks in late.

"Hey Jackson," Mr. Harris says in a hushed voice. "If you need to leave early for any reason, you let me know." Jackson just nods. Why the hell was Harris showing empathy for a student? Everyone knows he hates kids.

"Everyone, start reading chapter nine." He instructs. "Mr. Stilinski, try putting that highlighter down between paragraphs. It's chemistry, not a coloring book."

I looked over at Stiles' book, where he basically was highlighting start to finish. He caps the highlighter and tosses it on top of the book. He looks at Mr. Harris then leans over in his seat.

"Hey, Danny. Can I ask you a question?" Stiles whispers.

"No." Danny replies.

"Well, I'm going to anyway." He says. "Um, did Lydia show up in your homeroom today?"

"No." Danny sighs.

"Can I ask you another question?"

"Answer's still no." Danny says.

"Does anyone know what happened to her and Jackson last night?" Stiles asks.

"He wouldn't tell me." Danny answers.

"But he's your best friend." Stiles says. Danny just shrugs, and Stiles leans forward in his seat. "One more question."

"What?"

"Do you find me attractive?" He asks. Oh my god, I mentally facepalm.

Stiles found me after class, stopping me in the hallway.

"Hey, have you heard from Scott." He asks.

"No." I shook my head.

"He's not answering any of my texts." Stiles says.

"Okay, then call him." I suggest.

He snatches his phone and dials Scott's number. And surprisingly Scott actually picked up. I put my ear close to the back of the phone so I can listen in.

"What?" Scott answers.

"Finally! Have you been getting any of my texts?" Stiles says.

"Yeah, like all nine million of them." Scott complains.

"Do you have any idea what's going on?" Stiles asks. "Lydia's totally M-I-A, Jackson looks like he's got a time bomb inserted into his face, another random guy's dead, and you have to do something about it."

"Like what?" He asks.

"Something." Stiles says.

"Okay, I'll deal with it later." Scott hangs up.

"Great- what now?" Stiles asks me.

"Try to find Lydia." I tell him. "I'm going to see if Derek knows anything."

"Alone?" He scoffed. "Are you suicidal or something?"

"He's not gonna do anything to me." I rolled my eyes, walking away from him.

"He's scary!" Stiles called after me. "Scary people do scary things!"

I rolled my eyes again and kept walking. As I walked out to my car I sent a quick text, saying I've gone to Stiles to study. It should give me a few hours, if he didn't ask the Sheriff about it.
