"Princess! Princess! "

An anxious and worried voice resounded amidst the darkness.

"My Lady! Please do wake up!"

Hmm? Who's there?

Princess wanted to ignore it but she suddenly felt a burning sensation within her chest.

"Argh! Painful!"

She howled in pain as she clutched her chest with her hands and her eyes shot open.

"Phew! You're finally awake."

A young man whose whole body was drenched with water spoke with relief. His light blue hair glistened under the light of the sun and his silver eyes overflowed contrasting feelings of worry and ease.

"My Lady! I'm so glad that you've awoke."

With teary eyes, a woman dressed in a maid's uniform was on her knees as she spoke. Unlike the young man, the woman's purple hair and clothing were dry.

Princess' eyes widened as her mind recognized the people around her.

Johnson and Tanya! But why...

She wondered whether she was in heaven for she could see two of the people she highly values in her life but she couldn't be in heaven. Yes, Johnson died but Tanya didn't. Above all, the two of them looked so much younger.

Her hands were smaller than it should be. Well, not just her hands, she could see and feel that her body was of a child.

A dream...

I see, heaven is giving me such a beautiful illusion upon my death.

Her eyes started to feel hot and tears once again flowed like dam had broken within her. She looked very pitiful as she was crying while her whole self was also thoroughly drenched like Johnson.

The two people around her were startled the moment she started crying. In a split second, Tanya carried Princess her arms.

"Don't worry my lady, we shall immediately summon a physician to relieve you of any pain."
Tanya said as she started walking towards the large mansion not far ahead.

Princess circled her arms around Tanya's neck as her sobs never ended. While Johnson was quietly following them a few steps behind with a pained expression.

Once they reached the mansion, Princess was immediately sent to her room to change clothes as some servants were sent to fetch the physician.

After Johnson wore a new set of clothes, he immediately ran off to Princess' room in time to see the physician go out of the room. He wanted to go inside the room but was sent off by Tanya.

"The physician said that my lady needs some rest and must not be disturbed for the moment."
Tanya as with a smile but the atmosphere around her was so cold that it sent chills to Johnson's spine.

Inside the room, Princess was drowned in her own thoughts.

"Johnson and Tanya..." she softly muttered.

Johnson Godwin, he was the cousin of the man that she dearly loved but had betrayed her in the end. He was five years older than Princess. Johnson was a childhood friend of hers that had been her confidante and guardian who protected her in the midst of the chaos in and out of the kingdom.

When her powers started to weaken, the high church wanted to send her off to the border where a fight between demons and humans was raging the land. The order was for her to aid the soldiers in the area for the next ten years but it would mean that she won't be able to see her beloved for those said years.

To save her from sadness, Johnson volunteered to go to the stated border and fight on her behalf. Her ignoramus self was, of course, overjoyed and never understood the fact that she had sent Johnson to his own death.

Worse of all, she never felt remorse and she just consoled herself by thinking that Johnson died a valiant death!

Meanwhile, Tanya Vien was her personal maid who had dearly took care of her for so many years. Tanya was brought in to the Bonneville family by her father after travelling from the nearby kingdom.

Unfortunately, a few weeks before her marriage, an assassin sneaked in her bedroom and tried to kill her. Tanya was able to protect her but lost her right arm and eye in the process. She could no longer stay by Princess' side.

She felt lethargic and a little bit dizzy but she mustered her strength to get up from her bed and walked towards the door.

Even if this was a dream, I want to stay longer by their side.

She could feel her own heart pounding from the longing she feels. Her lips twitched as she saw the scene outside her bedroom.

Johnson and Tanya were locked in a staring contest.

A warm smile adorned Tanya's face but it felt like she was looking down a highly insignificant object that was worth to be crushed. On the other hand, Johnson's clenched fist and flushed face clearly portrayed his frustration and anger.

In the end, Johnson's emotion exploded and he pointed a finger at Tanya as he spoke.

"You actually dare hinder me to meet Princess!"

An ice cold chuckle from Tanya's lips reverberated along the hallway.

"Oh my, the young master seems to have forgotten on why my precious lady is now in this predicament."

Johnson couldn't rebut her words. All he can do was look down as he pursed his lips.

They're so concern of me, yet I...

"Princess!"

"My lady!"

Here train of thoughts were interrupted by the calls from the two. Their voices filled with worry and care made her heart feel so heart yet painful.

"What a wonderful dream this is," Princess said with a voice filled with sorrow.

Johnson and Tanya looked at each other before they turn their attention back to Princess.

Tears were starting well up in Princess' eyes when she suddenly felt pain upon her right cheek.

"Ouch!" she cried out as she smacked the hand that pinched her.

"It hurts right? Then this is no dream, welcome back to reality my little Princess", Johnson's face was now painted with smile and his silver eyes glimmered with warm doting affection.

Oh how I wish this isn't a dream.

Pain wouldn't exist in dreams right?

Am I given another chance to live my life in a different way?

Her heart couldn't help but long for the thread of hope to change her life.

Johnson and Tanya couldn't help but start to fret at her silence.

Princess touched the cheek that Johnson pinched while her other hand was on her chest; feeling her heartbeat at every second. A sudden thud pulled her attention and when she looked at the direction where the sound came from...

Ah... She punched him.
