Dead Hearts

Like the water passes through the rocks,
you slipped away from me.
You and I were that twig that was just waiting to snap.
We were that dark cloud that ruined a sunny day.
We were the unwatered flowers in a decaying field.
The long grass that was waiting to be shredded by the blades of the lawn mower.
The dying fish that begged for water.
We were never meant to work,
no matter how hard we tried.
You can't water a dead flower,
just like how you can't revive someone back to life.
We couldn't be saved,
Alas,
We were dead.
