'Toshiro, bakit hindi ka pumasok ng morning class? May sakit ka ba?'

I stared at my phone waiting for a reply until I saw the delivered mark turned seen then nothing. I waited a few minutes more but there's no reply. Alam kong nabigla si Toshiro dahil sa confession ko sa kanya nung Friday night pero hindi ko ineexpect na iiwasan niya ako ng ganito. He is the type of person who says what's on his mind with a smile on his face. I've seen him had fights with our other classmates pero never syang umiwas sa mga ito. Ayaw niyang may hindi kasundo, ayaw niya na may kaaway.

It bothers me but in the first place kasalanan ko naman. I just went on and selfishly announced my feelings for him. But at that moment, it felt right. Para bang iyon na ang tamang pagkakataon para sabihin sa kanya na gusto ko siya. And I ended up ruining his special day.

But I already made up my mind to chase him. I have to, at least, try and make him like me, even for a bit.

"Okay ka lang ba, Misao?" Keita placed his hand over my right shoulder pulling me out from my thoughts. I glanced at him and saw worry on his face.

"Okay lang ako. Salamat."

"For sure na shock yung si Toshiro dahil sa nangyari nung birthday niya." Si Fumihiro.

"Fumihiro?!" Suway ni Keita.

"Oh bakit? Kahit naman ako nagulat din." Tumingin sa akin ng hindi maganda si Fumihiro. "Pinagkatiwalaan ka ng tao, man." Umiling-iling siya. "Sinira mo tiwala ni Toshiro."

"Wala akong ginawang masama. Sinabi ko lang 'yung nararamdaman ko."

He scoffed. "Dapat sinarili mo na lang yan, Misao."

I could feel his hatred towards me. Fumihiro and Toshiro had been friends since they were in high school. They've been friends for so long that I perfectly understand why he's acting that way. Naiintindihan ko kung bakit galit din siya sa akin.

"Fumihiro, tama na yan." Keita stepped in between us.

Suddenly, Fumihiro's phone beeped. He fished for his phone from his jean pockets and read the message. Then he looked back at me, smiling. Not the happy kind of smile but the one that'll give you shivers. Cold.

Iniharap niya ang phone niya sa amin ni Keita. "Nandito na si Toshiro. Nagpapasundo sa'kin."

He walked past Keita then by me. "Ayaw ka niyang makita, Misao." Bulong niya.

Wala kaming imik ni Keita hanggang sa maka-alis si Fumihiro.

"Misao. Wag mong isipin si Fumihiro..."

"Okay lang, naiintindihan ko naman kung bakit siya galit."

We then went to the cafeteria to meet with Youjin and Eisuke and have lunch. Nakapwesto na sila sa usual table na inuupuan namin. Youjin was waving happily to Keita as soon as he saw us approaching. It's kind of comforting to see Youjin.
