Hey.
Nearing the end of this one peeps.
Enjoy~
(Y/n)'s POV
"I don't look like a prick right?" Dan smirked as I stared at myself in my mirror.
"You always do."
"Haha very funny, but seriously I don't look snooty right?" I asked. Today was the first day on set, and I didn't want to come off as some jerk taking over the studio. An artsy looking film writer didn't suit me, and I had a feeling everyone might hate me.
"You look perfect, as always, don't stress about it," Dan said. "Isn't Meg going? You'll look like less of a douche next to her." I glared at him, though he was right. Meg was the type to let her status get to her head, and the fact she was a 'visionary' for this film, wasn't going good for her.
"God, I hate this. I picked film w r i t i n g so I wouldn't have to deal with people. What about actors?! What if they think I'm trash?!"
"Would you calm down? They'll love you, and just stand next to Meg," he said, kissing my head. "I'll see you tonight, break a leg."
"Okay theater nerd."
"Right back at you."
He let himself out and I put on my coat. I climbed into my car, turning on the radio. I can't take a cab or an Uber, I need to be by myself for a while. Plus I couldn't get in with a driver. I drove along, outside the city. There was a large film set outside the city where I'd be working for the next few months. I felt myself relax to the sound of the music and road beneath myself.
That was short lived as I pulled up to the gate, flashing my guest ID to the guard. He pulled up the gate and I drove through, realizing it could've been really easy to sneak someone in here, the guard barely even glanced at the back of the car. I pulled into a spot, glancing out my side window at the huge hanger looking building where extras and people with headsets were exiting and entering.
I got out of my car and immediately a stressed looking woman saw my ID, recognized me, and started calling me over. She shook my hand, rather aggressively, speaking so quickly I could barely catch her name. She led me into the first hanger, pointing me over to a chair with my name on it. Woah, I get one of those? Meg's chair was empty, but the director was in his. I approached and he glanced to me.
"(Mispronounced name)."
"Uh--(y/n) actually, but yeah," I said.
"Nice to meet you, sit here, we're starting a scene." Already? I had just gotten here.
I plopped myself in a chair and I watched the two actors that had landed the main roles play the characters meeting for the first time. I watched intently, the script in my hand. I frowned when the male actor entered from the side, clearly in sight. He's supposed to come running in from behind.
"Cut!"
"He should come from behind, running, out of breath, dirty," I said, and the director glanced in my direction.
"Good points, LET TAKE THAT AGAIN, MAKE UP MAKE HIM DIRTY PLEASE!"
"And her."
"AND THE LEADING LADY."
I smiled.
Throughout the day, I helped out with scenes, confusion in the script, other things like that. Meg showed up shortly after, helping as well. After a long day, I was ready for dinner. Meg was going out with a girl she had met the week before, and they were really cute. I think that one could last.
I practically ran to my car to keep from being late to Dan and I's date. I sped off, running into the restaurant after a hasty, sloppy park job. I glanced around the restaurant, out of breath. I spotted Dan staring down at his phone. I smiled and walked over to his table.
"Mind if I sit here?" He glanced up, smiling at me.
"I thought you weren't coming for a second," he said.
"Of course not, I just had to break the speed limit a little is all," I said. He raised an eyebrow. "I am also dying."
"I can tell," he said, offering up his glass of water. I refused, collapsing back in my seat. "How was the set? Did people like you like I said they would?"
"Yeah.."
"Hmm, thought so." I curled up the side of my mouth, placing a hand on his. He held my hand there as the waitress came, both of us ordering.
"You took a cab right? Need a ride?"
"Oh wow, I get a ride?" He smirked and I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah in my Nissan ultima, get in," I said. He fake swooned and got in the passenger seat. He took my one hand, leaving me to steer with my right. We chatted as I drove him home.
"Well, I'm glad you had a good first day, care to celebrate?" He asked as we pulled up.
"What do you suggest?"
"Wine?"
"I mean, of course, I won't say no to that."
"Race you upstairs!" Dan called, bolting out of his seat. I smiled at the challenge, leaping out my seat. Locking the car behind me as I ran after Dan.
