Hey, this is like the first time I'm actually writing something on the day it's supposed to be published :P

Enjoy~

(y/n)'s POV

I placed a hand underneath my chin, trying my hardest to listen to what Meg was saying. My toes were scrunched in my shoes and my leg swung aimlessly underneath the table, threatening to kick anyone on accident in the near future but that didn't stop my nervous movement. My finger's rested near my lips, and I was forcing myself to not chew at my nail. The waitress came over and refilled my water glass which I had been nursing for a while. Meg finished her story and AJ looked over at me, as if I was part of the story. The rest of the table followed until they were all staring at me.

"Uh, yeah," I said, unsure as of what we were talking about.

"(y/n) I asked you to tell your side," Meg said. I paused.

"I-- sorry, I spaced out, I have no idea what we're talking about," I said.

"You alright?" AJ asked and I nodded.

"I'm just going to the bathroom," I said, standing up, not noticing when Meg followed me too. She locked the door behind us after shoving me in.

"What's up with you? You've been weird ever since Adam came home. Is it that?" She asked and I paused. I hopped up to sit on the sink and sighed.

"It's just, he had no idea you guys were over and planned to go out with his friend without me when we haven't seen each other all week," I said.

"Is that what you two were fighting about?"

"You heard?"

"Not really just a lot of mumbling and you looked really off when you came back," she said.

"It's like he doesn't give a shit any more," I said.

"Didn't you talk to Phil or something? Just break up with him. You both are clearly not working out and it's better for both of you."

"I know but--"

"(Y/n) you shouldn't be afraid of being alone," she said.

"I shouldn't, but that doesn't mean I can. It's just that I totally ditched all my friends and I was alone for so many years because it was my fault. The fact that Dan and Phil talk to me now is a miracle in my eyes. I don't want to ditch him," I said.

"I get that, but don't you want what's best for you both?"

"Yeah."

"Then the best thing to do is end it, I'm so sick of seeing you down because he's working," I sighed and nodded.

"I'll do it tonight," I said, my stomach twirling.

"Good."

"You just hate Adam don't you?"

"He's a nice guy, but when he's with you...he drives me nuts. No offence," she said and I nodded.

"It's fine, I can see why," I said. I followed her out of the bathroom, feeling slightly better now that my thoughts had been cleared and put out in the air. I sat down and conversation resumed, conversation I could follow and understand. One that I got involved in. Meg and AJ split off later that evening, Meg giving me a look to text her later about all that went down.

"Hey." I turned around, crickets gently chirping now that the sun had set. Dan, with a cheeky grin on his face, leaned against the wall next to me.

"Where's Phil?" I asked.

"Restroom, and uh, he's probably heading home."

"Oh."

"I was just wondering if you needed someone to walk you home?" He asked and I nodded.

"Of course."

"Awesome, let me just text Phil and we can walk." He texted Phil and we started down the pavement.

"You sure you don't just want to go home with Phil?"

"Yeah, I need to spend more time with you, all I ever do is sit around with Phil," he said, smiling slightly.

"So you became better friends with Phil, huh," I said.

"Right, you still don't know what happened after you left," he said. I cringed at the words of my absence leave his lips in particular since it seemed to hurt him the most. It still baffles me that he's not bitter.

"Yup."

"Well, it was kind of really quiet over winter break's beginning and after a while Phil invited everyone round for a little holiday thing," he started. My heart ached at the mention of Christmases spent as a kid. I missed the old days. "It was extremely quiet since we all know you love Christmas so much, it was weird not having you there. Phil and I talked about you being gone and everything and life just sort of chugged on. It was horrible not having you there." My throats was tight and I nodded along. "What did you do for that break when you were gone?"

"Nothing. I didn't celebrate Christmas because of moving and my mum couldn't make it out," I said.

"You didn't celebrate?"

"No, I don't get as excited about Christmas anymore, there was not really anyone to celebrate like you guys," I said.

"So we were both miserable."

"Yeah."

It was quiet as we walked along, stomachs full but hearts draining.

"Dan?" I asked and he glanced at me. "Did you hate me?" He paused and his face dropped, turning forwards again.

"Not so much you, but the thought of you leaving me, among other things. I didn't have enough time to do everything I wanted to do," he said. My heart sank.

"We're really depressing," I said and he nodded.

"But seriously, you need to come to a YouTube event and see everyone again. Plus we need to hang out more, now that I can see you again." I smiled.

"Definitely." I paused. "And I don't know if I mentioned, but I'm breaking up with Adam tonight."

"What?" He asked, looking at me.

"Yeah, your suggestion to talk to him didn't work out too well and I've talked to Phil and Meg and both of them hinted, one more strongly than the other, to end it."

"Are you sad about it?"

"Weirdly...no. I get so sad about little things with him, but not being with him doesn't seem all that different than right now and I feel way more okay with it than I should be," I said.

"Oh."

"Just wish me luck asshat," I said.

"Asshat?"

"Yeah, that's your name now," I said, as we approached my building.

"Wow, what a great nickname, I'll be sure to adapt it," he said, holding open the front door.

"Asshat Howell," I said.

"Asshat and Phil," he replied and I laughed, heading up the stairs as I pulled out my key.

"Perfection," I said, opening the door and flicking on the light. "If you want to stay for coffee or something that's c--" I paused, staring into my lounge. Dan was stood, frozen behind me.

"Wh--"

"Holy shit."
