Elena's phone went off halfway through dinner with her mother.  She would have ignored it had she not seen Harry's name pop up when she glanced at her phone.  When she instantly sat up her mother looked up from her meal,

"Something wrong?"

Elena shook her head and then nodded her head,

"It's Harry."

Carolyn couldn't help the smile popping up on her face.  She knew Harry would come through.  It had just taken him a bit.  She toyed with the veggies on her plate, trying not to let her daughter see her happiness,

"Answer it."  She said softly.

Elena tapped the button.  She reached up to tuck her hair behind her ear before she pressed the phone to it,

"Hello?"

"Hey, it's me."

For all of Elena's hopefulness when she'd answered the phone, her heart sank when she heard his voice.  This was definitely not the tone of a man who was calling to apologize.

Elena's smile disappeared.  She took a shaky breath,

"I'm at dinner with my mom.  I don't wanna argue."

"That's not why I called."  He responded.

And a slight bit of the hope Elena had returned.  She swallowed her bite of food,

"Ok."

Harry paused for a moment.  He was still so angry about her shoving him out of the room for her doctor's appointment.  But God her voice still sent his heartbeat into overdrive.  These moments were the hardest for him.  When she sounded so scared and all he wanted was to tell her it was going to be ok and then beg her to come back home.

But then he was reminded of the shrillness of her voice when she had ordered him out of the room that afternoon and his anger boiled again,

"Can you swing by here on your way home?  I'd like to talk to you about something important."

Elena's heart skipped a beat.  "Something important" could run the gamut between them getting back together to him telling her to step in front of a bus right now.  Still, Elena hadn't totally lost faith in him or in their ability to fix this.

She cleared her throat,

"Yes."  She glanced at her watch, "About an hour?"

"Sounds good.  See ya then."  He said and then he was gone.

Elena stared down at her screen as it faded to black.  Her anxiety ramped up, sending her entire body into almost uncontrollable shakes,

"H-he wants me to come over."

Carolyn again had to hold herself back from screaming how happy she was,

"Did he say why?"  She asked.

Elena shook her head.  It was odd, this feeling.  Hopefulness and dread.  She felt like she'd just entered a different realm...where nothing was as she thought it was.

Harry was trying his best to control his nerves before Elena got there.  The fact that he had nerves at all was already pissing him off.  He was right.  The fact that he was scared about this meeting between them was irritating.

He took a few moments to control his heart as it landed in his feet when he heard the doorbell ring.

Elena was smoothing out her dress when he opened the door.  Once again she looked so beautiful Harry could feel it in the pit of his stomach.  He cleared his throat as he stepped aside,
