"13," I corrected, rolling my eyes.

"See? You're still a baby!" Ethan protested.

"What about Jayden?" I asked.

"I mean... he's different..?"

I nodded sarcastically. "Mhmm. We're the same age."

"He was born earlier than you."

"That doesn't make a difference."

"Yes it does."

"That's not fair."

Ethan chuckled. "Who said life was fair?"

I slumped in my seat, sighing.

"Did... did you completely forgive everyone?" Ethan asked.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, after everything we did to you, you still forgave us..."

I thought about that. "Well, I do think about
it sometimes. But I feel guilty. I'm not good with holding grudges. I always find myself forgiving people even if I don't want to. I don't want them to feel burdensome because of me."

"You're literally the sweetest person I've met," Ethan muttered.

We finally got home and I ran into the house, sighing with relief when the warmth wrapped around me.

"Hi guys," Rose chirped. "Oh my god! Evanna? Why are you—"

I chuckled. "We were playing with water."

"In the middle of winter?"

I smiled. "It was fun!"

I rushed upstairs and went to my bathroom, turning on the shower. I stripped and went in. After ten minutes I finished showering, and I put on a hoodie, sweats, and dried my hair. I heard my phone go off so I checked my phone.

Sammy: Hey, are you okay? You seemed really cold. I hope you're not sick.

Me: I'm okay. Thanks for worrying.

Sammy: I don't like Matthew.

Me: Why?

Sammy: Please don't be hurt by this. I promise I don't want to hurt you. But I overheard him talking to his friends.

Me: What did they say? What are you talking about?

Sammy: The kiss was a bet. I'm so sorry, Evanna.

My phone fell out of my hands and I stared at the wall in shock. No way... Matthew would never do that. Would he?

Obviously he would.

You really thought he was your friend?

You don't have any friends.
