"hmmmmmm......"

"what are you hmming about hobi?"

"i'm just wondering how you don't have a girlfriend! anyone would become head over heels for you. you're smart, caring, tall as hell, and have an obsession with crabs! clearly, you're the perfect man."

outside the school building sitting on the picnic table were jung hoseok and kim namjoon. they've been friends since 8th grade all the way to their junior year. they first met when they were seated next to each other in ELA and they hit it off immediately. they even gave each other nicknames, hobi, and joon.

"i don't understand what the big deal is. everyone finds someone at their own pace, i'm just not looking to be in a relationship right now."

"namjoon, have you ever even been confessed to?"

"well yeah, hasn't everyone?"

"pshhh-" hoseok starting giggling. "do you know how many people would kill you if they heard you say that? i guess you do have the right to say that since you're so popular."

"ugh, alright, let's just stop talking about me. how's your love life then?"

there was a long silence when namjoon asked that question. namjoon was getting impatient, but he still waited for him.

"so uh, i'm interested in someone."

"what? who's the person??"

"that's the thing, it's, uh, yoongi..."

"yoongi?! you know jin will go after you if he knew that you liked him?"

"i know that already! that's what i'm worried about. i don't want to get bitch slapped by him."

"hah, i'm glad that's not my problem."

namjoon glanced at hoseok and saw he was sulking.

"agh, but i guess i can help you."

hoseok's eyes lit up after hearing those words.

"really? would you? see i actually wrote a lette-"

   "you wrote a letter??"

"yes i did, don't be fucking rude."

"i'm sorry but that's so corny. a letter is not going to do it, you should just tell him in person."

"nada, i'm too much of a pussy to do that. he's clearly going to reject me while i stand there dumbfounded."

"would you rather have him send you a letter back that says no?"

"yes, gladly. i would cherish that letter."

   "ack, you're such a weirdo."

"please, can you just deliver the letter?"

hoseok held a slip of paper out to namjoon, making sure to give him puppy eyes. namjoon muttered ugh while taking the letter.

"you're gonna repay me for this."

   "don't worry, i will."

lunch break was over and namjoon and hoseok split up. namjoon was on his way to the school gym. for some awfully convenient reason, his school combined two grades for p.e. his class was combined juniors with seniors.

usually, the seniors would snub anyone that was younger than them, but since namjoon was popular, he was treated well. this, of course, made him feel bad so he'd always try to include the others. yoongi was also conveniently in his class as well.

he wasn't necessarily popular, but he was seen as cool and admirable. he'd never really associated with the popular kids in p.e, which if it was anyone else, they would've been victim to 15 dodgeballs to the head, except that it was yoongi so no one cared about what he did.

when everyone was getting dressed in the locker room, namjoon contemplated on whether he should hand hobi's letter to yoongi right now. he knew he'd get weird looks from everyone if they saw him give a letter to yoongi, but this was for hoseok. he would never stop complaining if he knew namjoon didn't keep his word.

"ah, screw it."

namjoon walked over to yoongi, half-dressed. compared to yoongi, namjoon looked like a tree.

yoongi, clearly taken aback by namjoon walking towards him with no shirt on, was surprised when we saw an outstretched arm holding out a letter to him

yoongi, clearly taken aback by namjoon walking towards him with no shirt on, was surprised when we saw an outstretched arm holding out a letter to him.

"so uh, you should probably read this after gym."

"uh, alright?"

namjoon then walked back to his locker, embarrassed as he saw others looking at him. he finished getting dressed and headed towards the gym.

they were practicing shooting for basketball, and surprisingly despite his short stature, yoongi was phenomenal at it. and for namjoon, despite being tall, was awful at it. he was fumbling with the ball and even hit another student in the head.

"pfff, hahah!"

"what the hell, what are you laughing at tae?"

"that kid in there, he just hit someone with the ball."

taehyung and jungkook were strolling the school halls and the gymnasium doors were open to where they saw the tall boy struggle with a ball.

"wow, what a clutz," jungkook said, trying to stifle his laughter as the two kept walking.
