Swirling in the light of the moon,
Dancing until noon,
Is the little mer-girl
Playing with her small pearl.Undisturbed from human noise and busy life,
She plays all day with little strife,
In aid by the leaping waves
The mer-girl never stays.Untouched by the darkness of the deep,
Kissed by the sun in expense not cheap,
She glitters in the blue light
The mer-girl twists and leaps for noon-tide might.Leaping bounds and breaching whales,
Never struck by heaving gales,
And pearls glistening not ill
The mer-girl never still.
