Malenda and August's life can be compared to a piece of paper that has been balled up, crumpled, and has had attempts to smoothen out those crinkles. At this point, everything that they have been through has caused some sort of damage, but they are still holding up. But once that piece of paper is wet, their whole world can come crumbling back down and eventually fall apart. Getting another piece of paper and starting over fresh isn't easy either; almost impossible. Who knew that one of the two's vulnerability could be the cause of an overall state of fragility?
