I sat in the hard plastic chairs of the police department, they claimed they had news on Daryl and Merle Dixon.

They had been missing since March of 2014 and now it was September of 2014. They had still not been found. Every night I had wished to see them walking into school the next day. Or to hear the phone ring with their southern voices at the end. Or to wake up over in Daryl's room with him snoring softly next to me.

But that never happened.

My best friends haven't come home.

"Ms Kerr?" I jumped at the sound of my name. I turned to see Daryl and Merle's social worker who nodded at me warmly.

"Yes? Did they find them? Are they coming home?" She smiled a little and then shook her head. "We need you for a moment." I nodded slowly unsure of what they could possibly need me for. "Follow me." I nodded again and followed her into the off limits section of the department.

Past rooms of equipment for solving crimes, through hallways that had groups of detectives and officers speaking in hushed voices, passing offices with men in suits inside.

I had no idea where I was going.

"Down here." She said leading me down a flight of stairs, I followed silently. She lead me down deeper and deeper further away from the world. Soon she stopped at the bottom of the stairs and lead me down an almost endless hallway with blank doors at each side.

She stopped outside of one of them and opened the door, she gestured for me to go in so I did. Inside stood another man.

"Good, your here."

"Why am I here?" I ask looking around the empty room except for the two tables standing behind him, I couldn't tell what was on them, except for that it was white.

"We need you to identify something." The man said softly. I nodded slowly unsure of what it was. "Did you find something, something that will help us find them?" I ask in a rush.

"Not exactly." The man says.

"Then what?"

The Dixon's social worker moves past the man, who, has turned his eyes to the ground. She moves the white, which I didn't think could be moved, and reveals something I never thought I'd ever see.

"Ms Kerr can you identify if this is Daryl and Merle Dixon."

My breathe catches in my throat as I approach to two half decomposed bodies of what seems to be two male humans. Tears on the brink of spilling I shake my head.

"It isn't them?" He asks.

"I don't know." I couch out as the horrid feeling lands in my throat.

"We can't get D.N.A we need you oppinion." Says their social worker.

"I don't know. I don't know. No. They can't be. No. They're not dead. They can't be." I stop and choke. I shake my head as the tears begin to fall down my face.

"Athena, please we need your full co-operation now." Their social worker steps closer to me.

"NO! NO!" I yell, I turn and run towards the door. "Athena!" The man yells grabbing my arm, I shake him off easily and throw the door open.

I'm back in the endless hall of doors. "No! They are not dead! No!" I yell to nobody and then take off in a sprint towards the end of the hall, unsure where it will take me.

"Athena! ATHENA! ATHENA!!!"

"Oh Athena welcome to Georgia we are so glad that you could make it. Are you settling in all right?" I nod silently at the smiling woman standing at the front door.
