Waking up from the sound of your alarm, you groan as you try and shut it off by slamming it with your hand. It wouldn't budge so you blindly grab the wire that's connected to the wall and yank it out, making the clock fall off your night stand. You could honestly care less that it fell on the floor.

Grunting as you lay on your back and stare at your ceiling, trying to process the morning sleep and wake your brain and muscles. After laying in bed for a couple minutes you finally decide to get up and get dressed for the day. Moving slowly while changing out of your shirt, since your body ached from all the blows Hailey gave you. After changing into fresh clothes you decided to wear some black jeans, white tank top with a red flannel on top, along with some black converse. As you finished getting ready a knock was heard from your door.

"Come in," You say and grab your books for today's classes,

As the door opened it revealed your mother's boyfriends head poking from the crack of the door.

"Um breakfast is ready," He says shyly since you and him aren't very close still,

"Oh.. okay I'll be down in a bit," Not looking towards him, you kept your focus on your backpack,

He nods his head and turns to leave."Hey umm... what was that noise?," He asks before leaving your room,

With his question you looked up, confusion setting in but fading quickly when you had remembered your clock had fell on to the floor, making a loud bang.

"Oh it was my clock, it fell," You say grabbing your backpack and placing it on the foot of your bed,

"Oh.. thought it was you," He says with a light chuckle,

You give back a soft chuckle and sit down on your bed to tie your shoes. As you were doing your shoes you saw how he was still at your door and looking around awkwardly. You and him weren't really close, mostly because you were still trying to get use to the fact that he wasn't your father.

Not that you wanted it to be your father. Your some how glad your mother and father were divorced, he was always cheating on her, lying to her, and some times abusive. Not physically... well at least that's what you thought, he would just constantly try and pick a fight with your mother for no reason.

It has been a year since your parents got divorced, and four months later she found Eddie. He was an okay guy, sweet, kind, and shy. Very shy. There are times when he tries to have conversations with you but they don't really last long, and then there would be awkward silence in the air until your mother would walk back in the room, and then the air would feel normal again.

"Sorry," Eddie says when he noticed you looking at him, he then closes your door slowly,

You sat on your bed giving him time to go back down to the kitchen. After sitting down on your bed for a couple seconds you grab your backpack and head downstairs.

Making your way into the kitchen you saw your mother preparing her coffee, and Eddie sitting in the table with his phone out. You honestly didn't recall seeing him coming over last night, or slept over. But sometimes he would visit your mom after work and sleep over if it was too late to drive.

"Morning," You say and smile at your mom when she looked up at you,

"Morning my love," Your mother reply's with a smile,

As you sat down in front of him, you served yourself some Frosted Flakes and stuffed your mouth with a spoonful to not make any conversation. Already feeling the awkwardness setting in when Eddie felt your presence.

You were eating and looking at your phone, scrolling through your unread messages you saw Kelsey had texted you saying she would meet you at the school with a bunch of happy emojis along with heart emojis. Laughing softly at the message you kept on eating.
