CHAPTER 9: WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A FAIRY TAIL WIZARD (LUCY VS. MAVIS 2)

"LAW!!" Shouted Mavis

"N-No! " I said frightened

(NOTE FROM THE WRITER: Law is a magic that extinguishes the life out of anyone the caster perceives as an enemy)

A bright light enveloped the area. It was not like last time, this time it was real. She really intends to put an end to my life. What to do? I had no idea. I was on the brink of death. Memories came rushing to me. I remembered the adventures I went on with Natsu and Happy, overcoming all adversities, living life only thinking of "NOW" and striving to live on yet another day. My life was filled with sorrow, anger, loss, but also joy, pleasure, and love... Each adventure was harder than the one before, but we beat down every hopeless situation with a smile. This won't be my last adventure. This won't be my last hurdle... And this place won't certainly be my grave. With determination, I stood firmly as death knocked down my doors. I smiled as the stream of light rained down on me. I faced Mavis and said smiling:

"Sometimes it's better to go with a smile... I will die eventually, but this smile will be forever engraved into your memory, First...!!"

The light surrounded me, burning every ounce of clothes I had on. Feathers levitated all around me. The light was warm. My consciousness gradually faded away... It was my last moments, I'm thankful I got to die like this... Now I leave it in your hands... guys!

"Even in that situation... You're still..." Said Mavis irritated as she turned walking between the debris

"Why do i feel annoyed?"

"Why? I should feel nothing... Anger, Sorrow... They struck me at once, and this weird feeling inside my chest..."

"I feel something tight clutching at my heart... an ominous feeling..." Added Mavis holding her hands against her chest

Her hands started trembling, and tears fell down her eyes.

"LOVE..." She said

"This is what I'm feeling right now... Me of all people..." She added

She raised her head abruptly and turned it.

"What's this magical power I'm feeling?" She thought as she turned her head

I was standing behind her, my eyes closed. Light magic gushing from below me surrounding me.

"You're supposed to be dead!!" Said, Mavis

"Thank you first... I know you're still there... Hang in there I'm coming for you," I said

"What?"

"The light you struck me with... it was magic bestowed to me by the First..."

"N-no! I was deceived...!"

"Not exactly, Law only applies when you perceive the opponent as an enemy...! The second you released it, you fret for a moment,"

"What?"

"Yes, the doubt caused by slight annoyance... Has led to Mavis surfacing in you, clouding your judgment, which led to your magic failing, consequently giving me magic to recharge," I said with a graceful smile
