Chapter 11: Options

Chris and Zendaya sat in the car staring at each other neither of them knowing what to say to the other. Chris looked through the mirror seeing that the parking lot was practically empty so he got out the car and got in the back seat. Nodding for zendaya to join him. Instead of getting out the car Zendaya just climbed into the back seat  where they continued the staring contest with no words exchanged.

Chris pulled Zendaya into his arms and hugged her tight. "No Cap, I missed you Z"

Zendaya pulled away from Chris and let her eyes roam his face "what's wrong??" She asked which made a confused look take over his face

"What makes you think something is wrong?"

She reached behind his ear and took the cigarette breaking it in half and emptying the filter
"You smoke them when you stressed"

"Well now I'm stressed that you just did that shit in my car" he groaned and dusted off the seat. Zendaya couldn't help but laugh. Chris looked at her and cupped her chin " tell me you missed me?"

"Tell me what you stressed about??"

He chuckled letting her face go "it's not stress it's more like frustration and confusion" she moved her hand in a motion telling him to continue talking

"I was pissed the last time I seen you. You said some shit that actually got under my skin but apart of me couldn't be too upset because I knew some of it was true I could damn near ruin some opportunities for-"

Zendaya instantly started to feel bad so she cut him off "Chris the stuff I said I was forced to say and if I'm being completely honest with you then yes I can, will and did lose out on some chances just from being photographed with you but if people and schools can change up on me just for associating with someone then I don't need them"

"You sound crazy right now" Chris laughed a little "To make it to your overall goal which is the WNBA you definitely need those schools and this is what I meant about being confused and frustrated. I'm frustrated because I called myself giving you your wish and staying away from you but the last two weeks my mind was on you. I even broke up with Kae and to think I broke up with my girl of 4 years because I couldn't keep my mind off a girl that barely likes me is crazy. I'm confused because I know I should leave you alone but I can't" he reached out and caressed her cheek

Zendaya leaned her face into his hand "Chris I missed you too but my life is getting so outta control that I think I just need time to myself. Time to figure out what it is I want and I just wanna focus on basketball and learn to love myself as much as I love others. I've been so caught up loving Melo for the last two years that I always put him first in my life right now I need to worry about me"

"So are you and Melo done" chris asked hoping to hear the answer that would make him happy

"Honestly?? I don't know. Right now all I can tell you is we are working on our friendship and maybe me and you can work on ours"

"How?? I'm pretty sure your dad has no problem killing me if he even thinks you're hanging around me"

"You managed to see me today. Figure it out" Zendaya leaned over to softy leave a kiss on his cheek

She was about to get out his car when he stopped her and made her face him looking directly in her eyes he began to speak "if you decide to go back to Melo eventually, I will respect it. I don't wanna make things harder for you but you and I both know that you feel something for me"

Zendaya rolled her eyes and blushed "unblock my number chris" she said before stepping out the car

Zendaya was about to reach for the handle of her car when she felt a presence behind her "Damn who car is that?? That shit is nice"  the sound of Melo voice made her freeze
