A few days passed, and I haven't gone back to school. My door is locked from the outside, and the window had been nailed shut. Occasionally my father would come by and open the door, only to put a half sandwich on a paper plate on my floor. If it can be called that. It was a piece of white bread with a piece of cheese. Sometimes, he would come in to hit me again.

I spent my time staring at the ceiling, waiting for the hours to stop ticking by. I didn't count how long I was locked in here. Only when I would hear my father sleeping, I dared to look out the window.

This time I look, there's a truck parked outside. It almost looks like Bro's truck. There seemed to be movement inside. Someone climbed out and I ducked down, just enough so I can still see outside. Once I realized it's pointless because they probably can't see me in my dark room, I peek back up.

I stare at the boy standing outside my house. How the fuck did Dave find out where I live?

I stand up all the way and tap on the glass, trying to get his attention. He walked closer to the house, glancing in the windows of the first floor. He didn't notice my tapping.

I go to my door and try the handle, knowing it was still locked. I went back to the window, but Dave wasn't there. The truck still stood silent at the curb. I heard a noise downstairs, and I ran possibilities in my head.

The sound of light footsteps, much to light for my father, started coming up the stairs. I heard steps creak, the ones I knew to avoid, and use that to judge how close the steps were. At the top now, I hear a whisper.

"[Y/N]... Where are you? It's Dave."

I lay on the floor on my stomach and tap the floor. I try to peak in the crack under the door, but it was too dark.

"Dave. I'm here," I whisper back.

Dave walked up to my door and tried the handle.

"It's locked. Where's the key?"

"I have a copy."

I step to my dresser and sift through my clothes until I feel the key. I kneel down at the door and slide the key under it.

I listen to him fumble around until he felt it and unlocked the door. We both open the door.

"Grab some clothes." He took off a backpack and handed it to me.

I took it and went back to my dresser. I shoved clothes into the bag then zipped it up.

"We need to go now before he wakes up." I take the key from him and exit my room, closing and locking my door.

He heads back down the stairs, stepping on the creaky steps again. I hear a door open upstairs.

"We need to go now!" I whisper urgently.

He takes my hand and leads me to an open window. I listen to my father walk down the hallway and fumble through his keys. He unlocks my bedroom door as I'm letting myself down on the dewy grass outside. Dave follows right behind me and closes the window.

"[Y/N]!!!!!" my father bellows.

Dave and I run to the truck, both of us hopping into the passenger side. Only when the car starts driving off in a squeal of tires do I realize that Bro is driving. I look back to see my father standing on the sidewalk, furious and out of breath.

(A/N) Wow I need to actually update more. I've written some chapters down on paper, which has helped me get a creative flow going, but updates will still be slow. I'm going to try to keep this up best as I can. And if there is anyone out there that can help me with proofreading and correcting my tenses (I switch between present and past tense way too much) I would be super grateful! Please message me if you're up to the job and I'll give you my login. Until next time,

-Danny
