Dave went with me to the front of the school, as protection in case Veronica decided not to be nice. We looked around, but decided to wait patiently by the tree because she wasn't anywhere in sight. I sat down against the tree, followed by Dave after he gave one last look around.
A few minutes pass and a car drives by. It slows as the windows roll down. Veronica waves from the drivers' seat, a menacing smile on her face. A few of her jock friends hoist themselves out and sit on the car doors, holding egg cartons. They raise their arms to start throwing and I close my eyes and cover myself as much as I can with my arms. After a few seconds of the sound of eggs smashing and not being hit, I open my eyes to see Dave's face in mine, his body shielding me from the onslaught. As the eggs stop smashing, tires squeal and Veronica drives off.
Dave smiles at me. "Doesn't your hero get a kiss?"
I roll my eyes, my cheeks dusting with blush. "Not while you're covered with eggs."
"So later then?" His smile didn't even flinch.
"We'll see." I stated, slightly sarcastic. I could feel my heart skip a beat and hoped my expression wouldn't betray me.
Dave stood up, offering me a hand. "C'mon. I need to get spare clothes from my locker, then we're going to the principal."
I brushed away his hand and stood. "What about your hair?"
"I'll wash it in the bathroom."
I nod and we head back inside. I follow Dave to his locker, then to the bathroom. I wait for him outside, watching students pass by.
He comes out with a smirk back on his lips. "So where's my kiss?"
My eyes widen. "Whoa, wait, you were serious?!"
"Well, if you want it to be a serious offer. Then yeah." He stepped closer, reaching for my face.
I panic, laughing and stepping away. "That's pretty funny, Dave. It's a pretty convincing act." I turn and start walking away.
Dave watches me for a few seconds then slow starts following me. I thought I could hear him say something else but I brush it off.
We head to the principals office. When we get there, the secretary tells us to sit and wait for her. While we're waiting, the bell for class goes off but we don't move.
A/N: I'm going to attempt to put writing this in my daily schedule, although it will NOT be updated daily. I'll update at every chance I get, I promise. This story isn't dead yet!
