Darling in the Franxx: Code Zero

Chapter 2 - First Mission

When I got inside, there were a few adults walking around that weren't there earlier. So I had to figure out a way to get past them without being noticed. When the moment was right, I ran into the hall that my room was in. I went back in my room and 9'a and Zero Two were still asleep or so I thought. I crawled back into bed carefully and then I realized I had no blanket. I left it behind in the tree. Now they are going to ask where it went but hopefully they wouldn't ask about it. I put both my hands back in theirs and layed down but looked around.

Then I heard someone's voice. I sat up and it was 9'a talking in his sleep. He was saying: "My lovely, haha, you make me so happy. Please don't ever leave me. I promise that I will never hurt you again."

For the first time, he seemed like a different person when he was asleep and it was quite peaceful you could say. I smiled and then took my hand touched his head and then his face. His beautiful golden locks were so soft and his face was making different looks as he dreamt of whatever he was dreaming of, which was a bit odd but I didn't mind.

"I guess he can be quite adorable when he's sleeping and not talking all strange to me. Though it is a nice nickname. I won't get mad about it anymore." She said to herself.

I then put my hand back in his and then without sensing it, Zero Two had been watching me the whole time. I turned to face her and then quickly snatched my hand away from 9'alpha. My face was as pink as a cherry blossom tree. She smiled and then began to laugh.

"Hahaha! Why were you touching his head and face like that and smiling at him that way too?!" She said smiling and giggling at the same time.

"Uh! um! He looks so peaceful when he is sleeping and doesn't look at all like he normally does." I said to her, quickly.

"Well if thats what you want to think, but you shouldn't get to close to him. He's dangerous, just like all the 9's. So you should be careful." She said sounding a bit anxious.

"Hmm, I sensed that before a bit about them when we all first met. Does that mean that I shouldn't trust you then?" I said sounding sad.

"No! I promise that I would never betray you and would always be a loyal friend. And I trust you and know that you don't have any bad intentions." She told me.

"Well that's good! I know you wouldn't betray me and I know you have a good heart. So I will always trust you." I said to Zero Two smiling.

"Well then that makes me feel better." Zero Two told me.

"I hope that we never get seperated and nothing ever happens to any of us." I told Zero Two.

"Me too. But I don't really like the 9's but will hope they will never betray us." Said Zero Two.

After we finished our conversation. 9'a woke up. He looked tired but was surprised to see that I was doing fine. He hugged me and I was shocked. I didn't hug him back because of what Zero Two had said and she wouldn't lie to me if she knew something wasn't good about the 9's including 9'a.

"I'm glad you alright. What happened back there. Did piloting the Franxx for the first time, affect you? Was it my fault?" He said looking at me with sincerity in his eyes.

"No, it wasn't your fault. I think it was the affect from the piloting for the first time that hurt me." I said.

"Well, I'm glad that you weren't badly hurt like I had thought you would be, My Lovely." He told me.

"Yeah, ... Me too." I said sighing.

When we finished our short conversation 3 adults took Zero Two and 9'a back to their rooms. Zero Two looked sad but I told her that I would be fine and she should go to sleep. She went and I said goodbye to both of them. When everyone left I thought to myself what had happened while I was in the Franxx. Right after me and alpha got the core, that pain in me just awoke and I could feel a life. I even saw it's memories. And the odd thing that I didn't even think about was how I was in those memories. Why was I in them? Did I just imagine myself in those memories? And why did it hurt me? I tried my best to remember but all I saw were the fragments of the memories. I looked around and listened if anyone was near my room. No one was near by. So I decided to use my power and figure out what were the memories that I saw. I put the power in one hand and made something so I could see the memory.

There it was, my answer. It showed many blue adults and children all around a blue girl with horns. And that girl looked a bit like me except she had horns like Zero Two. Then it went to another fragmented memory of a whole place falling to ashes. I wondered how and why I got these memories. I had planned to ask Papa and Mama about them when I went back to them both. The memories ended and then my power stopped. I layed there and then thought about what had happened when I was running towards this building from the forest. The eyes of someone I didn't know of had watched me run back, but disappeared when I turned around. I wondered who it was but tried not to think much of it since I was injured. I went to sleep then and tried to not think of everything that had happened to me today.

Little did I know that in the next couple of weeks, my life that I knew of would be in shambles, betrayal, loss, taken, and forgotten about. Who was the person watching me? What were those memories? Why did I feel pain? What is going to happen to me?
