Kaze was flying. As she soared through the air, the twinkling lights of the city were barely visible, and not even the music blasting from the sports stadium could reach her ears. Kaze smiled, slowing her pace until she was hovering just below the clouds. Her blue coat rippled gently in the wind and Kaze closed her eyes, allowing a sense of peace to wash over her. This was the life.

Her friends would call her strange, opting to float in the sky, away from everyone, instead of jumping into the action and helping them with new missions and crises. But it's not like they couldn't handle themselves without her, and sometimes she needed to get away from the rush of everyday life. After all, she had superpowers, so why not use them to get a little peace of mind?

"Kamikaze!" Tion's frantic voice snapped Kaze out of her thoughts.

"Tion? What's up?" she asked, activating her Heads Up Display so that she could see her teammate.

"Well, Shurok and I were just taking down some demons, super casual, but then he woke up the Shadow and- long story short we need help. Like, now!"

"I'm on my way!" Kaze replied, bringing Tion's location up on her HUD. As she rocketed through the sky towards her friends, she couldn't help but smile. While she did love the peace and quiet away from the city, the rush of adrenaline was addicting, especially when facing an enemy such as the Shadow. As the hulking demon came into view, Kamikaze increased her speed and slammed into it with all of the force she could muster. The Shadow roared and staggered back, giving Kamikaze time to call upon her healing powers and rejuvenate Tion and Shurok.

"Glad you could join us!" Shurok grinned as she landed next to him. He hefted a nearby car over his head and tossed it at the Shadow. "Where's Drift?"

Kaze frowned. "I haven't seen him in a few days. I thought he'd at least turn up to help you guys, but I guess not."

"You know Drift," Tion laughed. "He's probably busy. He'll get in touch soon enough. In the meantime, he's gonna miss out on the bragging rights to taking down this hulk of a demon!"

"That's if we beat him," Kaze leapt into the air as a fireball slammed into the ground where she'd been standing. "Look at this guy!"

"Don't worry, I have a plan!" Tion ducked behind a building and began shooting the Shadow, ducking back behind cover before it saw her.

"Is it a good plan?" Shurok joined Kaze in the air and the two of them swooped around the Shadow, landing hits wherever they could and flying back as it swiped at them furiously.

"It's.. a plan."

"Great," Kaze rolled her eyes as she landed a hit on the Shadow's massive forehead. "Another one of your famous 'plans'."

"Look all you gotta do is wait for the signal and then you're both gonna hit him with everything you've got." Tion gave Kaze a small salute and ran off, leaving her and Shurok alone with the Shadow.

"Great, now she's ditched us." Kaze darted back, barely avoiding the Shadow's clawed hands as it swiped at her again. Shurok wasn't so lucky, and Kaze winced as he crashed into a nearby tower and fell heavily to the ground. "Oh, that's gotta hurt."

The Shadow roared again and raised its foot to stomp on her teammate, who was still picking himself up off the concrete.

"Oh, no you don't!" Kaze yelled, drawing her dual pistols. She circled the demon as she fired, while Shurok gathered his strength and leapt off the ground, the force of his jump leaving a crater in the ground. He slammed into the Shadow and pushed as hard as he could while Kaze continued to rain fire from above.

"Guys! This is your signal!" Tion hollered. Kaze glanced over and saw a massive fireball hovering above her friend.

"Shurok!" she called, flying towards the demon's feet. "Help me trip him up!"

Shurok followed her and summoned vines from the earth. The two heroes flew around the demon's feet and wound the vine around him, while Tion hurled the fireball at it with a mighty yell. The Shadow roared in agony as the fire consumed it, and Kaze breathed a sigh of relief as it fell to the ground, defeated.

"Alright!" Tion cheered, pumping her fist in the air. "We just took down the Shadow, Star Wars style! Who wants to find another bounty?"

"After that?" Shurok shook his head. "Sorry, but I'm beat, and it's dinner time."

"Yeah, same here. Sorry Tion but I've got to get ready for school."

"You guys are no fun," Tion folded her arms and glared at the two. "I'll just team up with Mira then."

Kaze didn't hear her, as she'd already logged out of the game. Smiling ruefully, she removed her headphones and allowed the sounds of the city, the real city, to filter in through the windows.
