[Hey guys! We are at around 560 reads which is so incredible. Honestly never imagined that would happen. I'm trying to keep my story as original as possible! It happens to be a little difficult since there are only so many things that can happen in the 1800s in Canada. But I hope you're enjoying my version! Anyways. I dedicate this chapter to Lucas Jade Zumann's girlfriend because she doesn't deserve any hate.]⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The win roared, Anne was furious it seemed she could light Ruby on fire with one look. Luckily that wasn't the case. She swiftly stood up. She was stiff and cold towards Ruby but followed her to the other end of the classroom that wasn't occupied. This caught a few people's attention but nothing drastic seemed to occur.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Gilbert starred at the conversation. He tried to make out the words but they were to far and the classroom was to noisy for any complete statements to be heard. He clenched his jaw iconically and tried to remain calm. Diana kindly reassured him that everything would be fine and Anne would return momentarily. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On the other side of the classroom stood Anne and Ruby uncomfortably. "I wanted to apologize. Anne I'm very sorry." Ruby uttered shyly. "Sorry? You're sorry. You think sorry is going to fix this." If anyone told Anne 1 year ago that she would speak this way to Ruby, well she might've hit you over the head with a slate. Nothing could convince Anne that the events of this year would take place a year ago. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ruby was upset in this moment. Her long curls turned up roughly. Tears began to stream down her face for the millionth time today. "I shouldn't have to apologize. I had dibs in the first place." She mumbled under her breath. She didn't mean for Anne to hear her it just slipped out. This sent Anne down a spiral of rage she could never recover from. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"He doesn't like you, and he never did. Get over yourself." She said sternly. She regretted it shortly after but it did feel good in the moment. Her voice didn't waiver, she sounded powerful and spoke with force. Ruby scurried away feeing a mixture of sorrow and Embarrassment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Anne's breathing became heavy. She was rather distraught. Diana could see Anne needed assistance and a friendly face. Gilbert was already standing when Diana shook his arm. He understood that Diana is what she needed and slid back to the ground starring at her helplessly. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"That didn't seem harmless Anne." Diana voiced while sitting in the vacant area with Anne. Immodestly after her words Anne engulfed Diana in a hug. Diana was warmer than she had been and it brought Anne comfort. Diana was very wise and could tell that bringing up the subject wouldn't do Anne any good in the moment. She tried to change the subject, getting Anne to smile. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Anne look at Charlie and Gilbert. They're starring at us." Diana giggled a little. Anne could feel Gilbert's hazel eyes on her. It was so romantical. "Anne they both have heart eyes. I suppose they're rather cute." Diana said glancing at Charlie. "Gilbert isn't cute Diana." She said firmly. "I thought we were past denial?" They both laughed a little. "Okay maybe he's a little cute, or a lot..." she added on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On the other side of the classroom sat Charlie and Gilbert in an uncomfortable silence. They used to be great friends but with everything that had happened recently they drifted apart. "So you and Anne?" Charlie inquired breaking the unbearable tension. He nodded slightly, thinking of all the witty responses Anne would give to deflect the question. "You and Diana?" He replied sardonically. "I hope so." They both laughed a little. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After a few moments of Diana and Anne taunting they boys. They walked back over to them and sat down once again. The couples talked for a few hours. Everything seemed alright until Diana started to feel uneasy. Within a few moments she understood the problem and shot from her seat. She ran back to the vacant corner with no explanation. Anne followed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Anne! Oh Anne!" She burst out into tears, Charlie rushed over to the other corner Gilbert following. "Go away Charlie!" She demanded Rudely. He didn't understand how she could go from adoring him to hatting him in 3 seconds. Both the boys returned to their seats. "Anne, it's my womanly time . And I'm stuck here! What do I do! Anne you have to help me." She demanded, Diana was panicking. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"What if Billy see's and torments me. What if Charlie sees!" She whisper shouted at Anne who was desperately trying to come up with a solution. Without thinking Ruby and Josie rushed over. Once Ruby arrived she remembered her situation but no one could think about that right now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After all the girl's learned figured out the situation they thought of ways to fix it. Suddenly Ruby shot up. "I have an extra petty coat in my satchel. What if for the time being......" she trailed off into her idea. Everyone agreed and rushed into the utility room. All the girls now including Miss Stacy were cramped in the back near the powder room. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Why do woman do that? She loved me two seconds ago." Complained Charlie. Then suddenly the realization came to Gilbert. "Charlie, what if Diana's-" Suddenly He didn't need to finish his sentence. They both coughed uncomfortably. "I doubt it." He replied quietly, to make the situation less awkward when the girls returned. They both nodded starring at the ground. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Suddenly all the girls scattered back to their original positions. But before Ruby could leave Anne pulled her into a deep hug. Anne knew everyone word, but none were needed. "It's what friends are for." Whispers Ruby before returning to her seat. She somehow knew things would be okay. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The girls walked back to the corner. No one mentioned the last time they spoke. No one needed to. They bang talking about beautiful flowers, then suddenly Anne and Diana developed an in depth conversation as to how they want their wedding to look. While Diana was describing the scenery Anne Interrupted. "Take notes Charlie." Diana's face was a lift shade of pink. She couldn't control it any longer. "You too Gilbert." She added to make Anne feel the same sense of humiliation. Anne nudged Diana on the shoulder lightly. She felt completely content. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
'Words can only express feelings that can't be shown. But I'm wearing my heart on my sleeve, afraid that t might be hurt but excited that it might just latch on to the perfect person. I ramble on to hide the fact that I am not completely content. I use big words to hide my insecurities that I am not smart enough because I've failed myself in the beauty department. But here I sit, next to people who bring me genuine joy, content. I don't worry about past situations. I don't fear for the feature. I enjoy the present. I soak in the love.' Anne thought to herself listening to Diana's sorties of love and Charlie's soft input. She gazed back into Gilbert's eyes refusing to ignore her feelings. She was fulfilled. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Before the night was over Miss Stacy had played a remarkable song on the piano. Everyone began to dress sweetly as the night drew to an end. Ruby and Jerry danced together realizing how little time they had to argue. Billy and Josie dance charmingly, shocking everyone. Obviously Charlie and Diana were hand in hand. The light faded away and all seemed well. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"May I have the last dance?" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
