⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"But Marilla!" Anne shouted angrily. In the kitchen while Marilla was preparing super. "That is enough child, hold your tongue or you'll be up to your room without food." Harshly threatened Marilla. A few moments later Mathew had walked into the Cuthbert ladies war zone. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mathew had listened in on the conversation for long enough to understand the premises. He waltzed into the dinning room sliding the chair from under the table and giving Anne a re-assuring wink. Anne quieted down and smirked kindly at Mathew before setting the table. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Once the table was set to perfection Anne was ready to sit down and say grace. She grasped Mathew and Marilla's hands. She opened her mouth widely to say grace before she was Interrupted with Marilla's prayer, it seemed she hadn't spoken fast enough. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Grace had finished and Anne dig into her food. Once Anne had finished her plate she politely moved her plate to the sink and asked to be excused. Once she was excused she rushed up to her bedroom, Anne wanted Mathew to talk things out with Marilla as soon a possible. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The sun was a beautiful orange, with red in the rims. It's flared down onto Anne's perfectly placed window to wake her up at the most astounding moment. She arose from her bed excitedly, she expected to go down stairs and hear Marilla's approval of the holiday formal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Her long bewitching red head was nearly combed and split into two fiery braids. She through in her dress of most simplicity, not to provoke Marilla in anyway. She stumbled down the stairs practically tripping over her own excitement. She rushed down to the table and sat at the table admiring Marilla while cooking. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"You're in an awfully good mood for being told she couldn't go to the dance." Anne's highly risen cheeks sunk down to the bottom of her face while she came to the realization that Mathews talk didn't persuade her opinion. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Suddenly Anne's positivity dropped dramatically. She barley picked at her food and just glared nastily at the floor. "Eat your food child." Marilla demanded. "How can I eat when I'm in the depths of despair Marilla!" She shouted in a lower voice.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Marilla, May I at least go to Diana's?" She asked aggravated. Marilla knee that her Sunken attitude would just slow her down. Anne dragged her fear on the way to Diana's. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Oh Diana, she is refusing to me go, there is only one option." She said with chaos in her voice. "I know, I'm sorry Anne, do you want me to stay home with you?" Diana suggested secretly praying she could go. "Diana you're so sweet, I must sneak out." That thought made Diana's lips quiver. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
[Im jumping to the night🖤]⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The sun set beautifully that evening, Anne hardly noticed. Her favorite part of the night had passed and she hadn't dared to glance through her window. She concentrated harshly on her sheet of paper with the steps on sneaking out intently. She studied it for hours boring herself. She eventually fell asleep still in day clothes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She arose the next morning, early as always. Her shimmery auburn hair glimmered in the sunlight. Her eyes usually were filled with hope and had the sparkle to make anyone smile, however today they were filled with sorrow. She knew she was wrong to go against Marilla's back, but something was pushing her to do so. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Without changing into a new dress she walked down stairs, silently. She had reached the last step of the stair case. Before she could greet Marilla she heard a familiar warm voice call her name. The noise echoed from behind the wall leading to the living room. A few shaky foot steps hit against the wood floor before Gilbert appeared in the door way.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Anne's somewhat upset expression turned to a red grin. She tried to hide it and stare aggravated at him but she couldn't manage. "Gilbert Blythe." She said happily walking down the stairs. She suddenly remembered her hair was unkept and felt a flood of embarrassment was over her. She quickly used her fingers to comb through her hair and walked over to the space in between Marilla and Gilbert. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"I just came along to ask if you'd like to go for a walk, Diana and Charlie should meet us by Diana's home if you'd like to go." He asked flashing a charming smile causing and to blush and turn to Marilla. Marilla saw the girl flustered and chuckled a little, it brought back found memory's of her days with John Blythe. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Marilla?" Anne pleaded waiting for approval. "I suppose that's be alright but don't be to late, Anne." The red headed girl ran up to her and gave her a warm hug, engulfing Marilla. Marilla gave a faint hug back for just a moment before she pulled away. "Oh thank you Marilla!" An said in appreciation. Gilbert half smiled at the girl's excitement before running to get the door for the girl. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Gilbert opened the door kindly. "Thank you Gilbert however I am perfectly able to turn a knob." Anne shrewdly told Gilbert. "I'm sure you can Miss Shirley-Cuthbert" Gilbert re-assured her. The sound of Anne's name put a small smile on Marilla's face. However it went away within moments of Mathew returning. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
An exciting feeling churned in Anne's stomach as they walked the trail to Diana's house. One they arrived they could see Diana and Charlie holding hands in the distance. Once Charlie and Diana noticed them approaching she quickly pulled away and ran over to Anne to give her a monumental hug. Gilbert and Charlie exchanged knowing Glances. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Where are we going?" The two girls asked in unison. Both the boys nodded at each other before Gilbert spoke. "You'll see." He said mysteriously while walking the trail along side Charlie. Anne and Diana looked at each other intrigued with spontaneous Grins. "Well hows is that fair?" Diana teased Charlie. Charlie faced the front refusing to face her because he was as red as Anne's fiery hair. Anne and Gilbert could both see this and laughed a little at the same time. Gilbert glanced back at Anne In admiration of her giggle. It's was sweet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A few minutes went by of small conversations and romantic glances. Diana questioned in her head if this could be considered a double date. She kept that thought to herself not wanting to upset Anne. "Ladies." Charlie turned back at the opening up a pathways to a beautiful clearing by the lake with a soft beige blanket. "We've arrived." Gilbert added, in a dreamy tone as Anne and Diana put it.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The girls obliged and sat down in the blanket with interlocked arms. They gazed up at the boys now sitting in front of them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Why have you brought us here?" Diana asked the boys while Anne was locked in a gaze with Gilbert. Charlie leaned over a log to pull out a basket hidden in the bushes, Diana was astonished, it seemed the boys had planned this. Charlie pulled out a beautiful blue bow that matched Diana's eyes beautifully.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Well I was hoping you would accompany me to the holiday formal?" Nervously asked Charlie. Diana shot an ecstatic look towards Anne then connected eyes with Gilbert,
Putting the Pieces together. Anne still was following the creases in Gilbert's cheeks unaware of the situation. "I would love to." She stayed joyfully. Charlie leaned over to Diana and gave her the bow. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Diana Hugged him lightly before pulling away. Charlie and Diana both noticed Anne and Gilbert starring at each other in adoration. Diana sarcastically coughed grasping Anne's attention while Charlie nudged Gilbert on the arm. Anne noticed the bow and squealed in excitement for her dearest friend Diana. She then flared back at Hilbert wondering if he had anything in plan. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After Anne and Diana quietly chatted for a moment she redirected her body towards Gilbert. He had a book in his hand with two green ribbons dangling out the side. Gilbert handed Anne the book, it was the hard back cover of the count of monte Cristo. A romance novel. "Think of it as an invitation, to the formal?" He asked. Clenching his jaw attempting not to smile. She immediately nodded graciously and leaped into his arms. Gilbert caught her excitedly and held her close before she crawled back to her seat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The group of four starred dumbfounded into each other's eyes before they heard the breaking of tree branches in the distance. Anne turned to Gilbert in fear, however it was just a forest animal. She turned back glaring at the ground cursing herself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now she had to sneak out. There was no other way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
[This chapter was going to start the process of Anne sneaking out but I decided that should wait until next chapter! Do you ship Charlie and Diana? Also, more shirbert moments to come next chapter! Stay tuned and don't forget to vote! Also, this chapter was longer than I initially intended but do you like that?]
