The Date (cont.)
---------------------------------------------------------------Philomene and Draco sat next to each other on the blue picnic blanket, the picnic itself long eaten and put aside. It was a comfortable silence that Philomene decided to break.
"Thank you so much, Draco," she said softly. His silver eyes met her blue ones.
"Why?"
"For this picnic, for being my friend, for coming back."
He turned back to gaze in front of him, propped up on his hands, remaining silent.
Philomene decided to speak again. "By the way, why did you leave in the first place? I thought it was probably because I'm a Potter, though I'm not quite sure how that affects you."
He took a moment before responding. "Potter and I have always been enemies - sworn enemies. I guess I was kind of shocked that you were a Potter. I felt like I had let my guard down." He shook his head. "I also thought - irrationally - that Potter may have sent you to keep an eye on me. He still doesn't trust me since the Battle of Hogwarts."
"Why's that?"
"That's a story for another time."
"Oh"
Philomene tilted her head and rested it on Draco's shoulder. A perfect moment. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the flowers blooming. And a boy and a girl sat side by side on a blue picnic blanket. Nothing could go wrong in the world.
