Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley all sat on the red velvet couch in the Gryffindor common room. Hermione rested her head on Ron's shoulder, her eyes closed.

"I'm so glad to be back," Hermione said, sighing, "I missed the library."

"How can you miss the library when you always carry one with you?" Ron commented. Hermione opened her eyes to slap his hand lightly, smiling.

They heard the soft call of an owl, and turned their heads towards the window. A large, white, gray-speckled bird was perched there, carrying a white envelope.

"That's Professor McGonagalls's owl," Ron said.

"Headmaster McGonagall's owl," Harry reminded him, rolling his eyes at Ron's inability to remember anything that didn't involve him. He got up and walked over to the open window. The owl was tame, so Harry did not have to watch for claws, but he did give it a small owl snack in exchange for the note.

He walked back over to the couch, where he plopped down, already popping the red wax seal off the envelope. Hermione and Ron leaned over to peer at what the note said.

Harry Potter,

A special occurence has manifested itself, and it is critical that you come to my office immediately.

Sincerely,
Headmaster McGonagall

When Harry had finished, he looked back up at his friends, who looked back curiously. They had all thought all their troubles would be over, and it would be a peaceful year for them. Apparently not.

"This can't be good," Harry grumbled.

"Don't be so negative," Hermione retorted. Suddenly her expression brightened. "Maybe she's going to make you Head Boy!"

Harry pushed himself off the couch, shaking his head. "I sure hope so." He said, dreading any bad news he might potentially get.
