Lefiya Aschen's Point of View

"I saw your eyes, they're different."

It felt like being an ice statue after hearing what she've said. What difference is she talking about? Is it the color? The size? Or what?

"What do you mean?"

"Your eyes—its color is different. Your eye color is blazing blue."

"That's impossible!"

Natatawa akong umiiling-iling sa sinasabi ni Ryn. That's unimaginable! Me having blazing blue eyes? My eyes are both dark brown in color. Maybe what Ryn saw earlier is just a trick of the light.

"I know what I saw."

"That's just a trick of the light."

"Alam kong imposible 'yon, Lefiya. Kaya ilang beses akong kumurap. Pero nananatiling asul ang kulay ng mga mata mo."

"But it's unimaginable. How did that happen?"

"Maybe something triggered it? Did you felt something for me while you're staring at me so bad?"

"Yes, anger."

"That's it! Anger triggers it!"

"We're not yet sure about that."

"At least now, we have a theory."

The two of us were disturbed when three whistles filled the air. All of us formed a horizontal line, facing our coach and waiting for her to speak.

"Good afternoon."

"Good afternoon, Coach."

"Sorry for being late. Without further a due we'll start the practice game. Gather in front."

All of us went in front and waited for Coach Nicolai to group us in two's. Isa-isa kaming tiningnan ni Coach na para bang sa pagtingin niyang 'yon ay nalalaman niya kung sino ba ang nakakondisyon na para sa laro at kung sino ang agad na bibigay.

"Rivas, Montecarlo, Fayre, Sheffield, Saunders, and Gavell. You're the first group." Coach Nicolai muttered after two minutes.

"Tyrell, Lyon, Simmons, Watson, Walsh, and Aschens. You're the second group."

"How about the four of us, Coach?" Summer asked.

"All four will be substitute players. Norden and Dawne you'll join the first group. Dauncey and Curzon you'll join the second group. Now, form your groups!"

Nagsama-sama ang magkakagrupo. Na-distribute ng maayos ang mga players. Alam na alam talaga ni Coach kung sino na ang may mga napatunayan at may papatunayan pa lamang.

"Nagwarm-up na ba kayong lahat?"

"Yes, Coach."

"Siguraduhin n'yo iyan, dahil kung hindi kayo nakapagwarm-up siguradong sasakit ang katawan n'yo. Anyways, malalaman ko rin naman iyan."

Ryn gave a coin to me to toss it. The outcome of tossing it will indicate which side of the court we'll be playing.

"Head or tail?" I asked.

"Tail, left side."

"Okay, then. Head, left side will be our choice."

I tossed the coin and hid it inside my palm. Whatever side is facing up will tell us on which side we'll be playing. I slowly opened my hand without looking on it. My group mates were staring at it.
