"Wait, you want to move to the city?!" Mito asks, dropping a plate at Gon's words.

The plate is made of glass, so it shatters.

Mito panics as she immediately runs to grab a broom and dust pan.

"Yeah," Gon says, cheekily smiling once she returns. "I want to try living on my own and getting a career!"

"But what about college—?"

"No need! I just want to try experiencing the city life!" Gon says honestly.

"But you know how careful you'd have to be... right?" Mito asks cautiously.

"Yes, I know the dangers of the outside life." Gon says, sighing.

"But you're still young—"

"Aunt Mito! I'm eighteen!" Gon says, stretching his arms out, not in the manner of a hug. "I know how to take care of myself!"

"...but I'm scared." Mito admits, her expression turning to worry.

"Scared of what?" Gon asks. His smile fades, and he brings his arms down.

"That something might happen..." she says, trailing off a bit. She throws away the bits of glass in the dust pan. "Since you do look young for your age..."

"Like what?" Gon asks, innocently tilting his head to the side.

"All I can say is," Mito says, walking in front of Gon and placing her hands on his shoulders. "Don't trust strangers."

That's an issue for Gon.

He's way to good at trusting others.

"I promise. I won't." Gon says almost immediately.

...

The day he lands. It almost feels like he's reborn to a new life. He can do almost anything at his free will, and his aunt isn't nagging at him for every little thing.

It was hard to let go of him, since Mito thought he wasn't ready to leave. She had given in, and here he is now...

Standing in front of an elevator that has an "out of order" sign taped to it.

"Damn." He mutters under his breath as he realizes he has to take the stairs.

His room is supposedly on the eighth floor, which makes his life difficult.

He groans loudly as he drops his bags and throws his head back in frustration.

"Would you like help with that?" A voice asks courteously.

Gon looks to his left to see a boy with short blonde hair and dark gray eyes, slightly smiling.

"Yeah. Thanks!" Gon says as he smiles back.

The boy grabs his bags, and begins climbing the stairs. Gon runs to his side.

"Which floor are you headed to?" The boy asks, looking at the younger curiously.

"Eighth." Gon answers with a sigh.

"Alright," he says, noting that. "And the room number?"

"806."

The boy's smile immediately vanishes.

"Oh," he says, his expression quickly turning from generous to serious. "You're going to be his roommate?"

"My new roommate's going to be a boy?!" Gon asks excitedly.

"Yeah, but..." the boy mutters, trailing off a bit.

"'But...' what?"

"Nothing." He states, shaking his head. "By the way, my name's Kurapika. I live on the sixth floor, room 603."

"My name's Gon!"

"If you need help with anything— I feel like you will—" Kurapika says, his expression falling, but soon rising. "Come to me or my roommate, Leorio Paladinight."

"Okay!" Gon says, smiling widely.

"You said room 806, right?" Kurapika asks, stopping in front of an apartment door.

"Yes." Gon replies cheerily.

"Here we are." Kurapika says, gently placing his bags down. "Have fun, good luck, and be careful!"

"Wow! Time actually does go by fast when you're having fun," Gon exclaims, bowing at him. "And thank you very much!"

Kurapika smiles politely, but as he turns away, he gets a feeling of worry.

I hope he won't do anything to Gon... Kurapika says in his mind. He shakes his head as he thinks of the positive outcome. He returns back to his room.

Gon excitedly reaches into his pocket to grab his keys.

He takes a deep breath.

I can't wait to meet my new roommate!

He unlocks the door, puts the keys back in his pocket, and carries his bags inside.

The apartment is pitch black. Gon drops his bag in a startled state as the door suddenly closes behind him.

He can feel someone else's presence in the room, which sends shivers down his spine.

He searches the wall for a switch. One he finds it, he flips it on, and the light on the ceiling turns on.

He sees a pair of sapphire-blue eyes in front of him, and jumps back.

"Woah." The new voice gasps, his mouth slightly open.

He has eyes as sharp as a cat's, hair the color of snow, and skin of a vanilla tone.

"Wh-what?" Gon questions in a stutter.

"I didn't think my roommate would be this cute!" He exclaims, circling Gon a few times before standing in front of him once again.

"W-w-wait!" Gon sputters, a bit uncomfortable from the boy. "Who are you?"

A grin appears on the silver-haired boy's face.
