Feeling the warm golden rays of morning sunlight peek through from an open window, I turn my head slightly.

As I open my eyes, the ever so calm breeze flows through my raven hair, making the bleak setting peaceful with the golden rays of sunshine.

I take a moment to breathe in my surroundings, my mind being hazy.

Looking around with my head still resting on the soft pillow, I realize I'm in a hospital room.

On a nearby table was a flower pot, filled with daisies.

A get well flower pot?

What happened?

A voice interrupts my thoughts.

"Are you awake?"

I turn my head to see a girl with golden hair sitting beside my hospital bed.

Not knowing what to say, I remain silent.

She smiles.

"Thanks. I mean that,"

She takes a breath.

"Some reckless guy thought it was a good idea to go over fifty in busy streets,"

I blink.

Taking a glance at the open window next to me, I try to get up.

A sudden pain erupts from my side.

"Ouch..."

Gritting my teeth in pain, I grip my hip.

"You're safe here, don't worry. But you need to rest for a while," She says, helping me sit up.

"Okay..."

As I adjust, I look back towards her.

"By the way, who are you?"

She gasps quietly, giving me a pained expression.

"So that's how it'll be... Of course, it's somewhat understandable... It's a miracle you survived after all, so it must put a toll on you... It's a blessing that you can even speak..."

She looks up.

"I am..."

"Your lover."

Her answer shocks me.

"My lover? Even though I don't recognize you?"

She looks back down with a sad smile.

"You idiot..."

I lean down a bit, trying to look at her face.

"Did I upset you?"

She looks back up with a smile despite her teary eyes.

"You did! Because we've known each other for a long time and when we were little, you made a promise to me,"

"A promise?"

She wipes her tears away.

"That's right, a promise,"

A promise...

I sigh and look down towards the floor.

"...Sorry, I just can't remember anything at all,"

After a moment of silence, she speaks up again.

"Then you owe me a favor, for making me sad."

I look back up.

"What favor?"

She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath.

"My dad is forcing me to marry someone I don't want to marry, so if you could stop this wedding from happening somehow, then it'd make me happy again. More than happy,"

I'm taken by surprise with her request, but something in my head tells me that I should do anything for her.

After a while of contemplating, I answer her.

"...Consider it done,"

She looks up in shock.

"You'll do it?!"

I nod.

"I'll do it,"

Tears start running down her cheeks.

"Did I upset you again?" I ask, holding out my hand.

"No, I'm just happy..."

Happy..?

I turn towards her, my feet hanging over the bed.

"I don't understand but... please don't cry," I say placing my hand on top of hers.

"That's impossible..." She says, taking my hand and holding it in hers.

Looking back up, her bright blue eyes meet mine.

"Welcome back, Ash!"

Author's Note

❦════༻ 🌷 ༺════❦

Super short chapter, I know!

BUT DON'T WORRY!

I thought this was a good place to end the chapter, as the next couple of chapters will be heating up rather quickly.

I'm getting right to the next chapter after I publish this one, so expect the next chapter to be up in a day or two.

Thanks for the patience as I recover from jet lag after my vacation!
