Chapter Four

Demi sighed and sat up on her bed getting ready for the taping. She went to the wardrobe fitting and the make-up studio before walking on set. On the way there she noticed Joe and Taylor. No wonder Joe was so happy, he had his girlfriend with him. Demi hid behind a cottage and eavesdropped on their conversation.

"Tay, don't do this." Joe said reaching out to her.

"I'm sorry Joe, but it hurts." Taylor said with a tear falling out of her eyes.

"Why do you care so much? Why don't you just ignore them?"

"They're death threats Joe. I'd be scared and it's impossible to ignore knowing that maybe there's be a person walking around the corner about to kill you."

"Taylor, they're just jealous. Fans always do that."

"Really?" Taylor asked as Joe nodded. "Then when was the last time you got fan mail saying that if you'll die because of dating me?"

Joe shook his head, spechless. "Maybe not all fans, but can we please make this work?"

"I'm sorry." Taylor walked away crying.

Demi stood there knowing that it's really a bad time to actually sneak around their conversation. Now Joe will probably go in a worse mood than he already was with her. She sighed and walk away leaving Joe on his spot where his hands were clenched into fists in an upset state.

Demi walked on set as the cameras started rolling and her song "It's Not Too Late" began playing. This was an extended version for the movie along with "Different Summers" which was yet to be taped.

"It's time to face it and be strong
I wanna do the right thing now
I know it's up to me somehow
I've lost my way."

Demi sang as she remembered what happened to Joe earlier. She thought to herself why she cared. Why did she let it get to her head this much? She shut her eyes and continued to sing getting the scenario out of her head.

After filming four more scenes, Demi was done for the day. She said goodbye to her cast and walked back to her cabin. She was about to open the door when she noticed Joe and Mdot talking by the lake. He was throwing pebbles in the water. Mdot finally got up and left Joe alone. Demi sighed and walked towards him knowing he would be in a bad mood, but she's used to it so she doesn't really care.

"It's beautiful isn't it?" Demi said glancing at the view of the lake not wanting to sit down.

Joe didn't look up, but continued to throw stones in the water. "I know." He said quietly.

Demi kneeled down beside him. "What's wrong?" She asked even though she already knew.

"Well Taylor visited me yesterday." He said as Demi nodded and smled. He finally focused on her. "And that's why I was such in a great state of mind. Earlier today, she told me she only came here to end things. Mainly because my fans keep mailing her death threats and she doesn't take them too well." Joe sighed and shook his head concentrating back to the water.

"Nobody takes them well Joe. Don't worry, you'll find someone better." She smiled at him as he nodded.

"I wish." He whispered.

"Knowing you for two years, I know there's another reason why you were in a good mood." Demi smiled as Joe laughed slightly.

"Yeah, I don't know what it is, actually."

"Whatever you say." She stood up and tapped his back as he chuckled. "Look at that...new record! We went five minutes without yelling at each other." She giggled as Joe laughed again. Demi smiled at him and proceeded to the cabin walking backwards knowing that Joe was about to say something else.

"Thanks, Dems." He smiled as Demi nodded and completely turned around walking back to the cabin.

Demi walked in the cabin and closed the door. She leaned on it and grinned from ear to ear. Joe's never called her "Dems" before. She shook her head and kept that smile as she cleaned her make-up off.
