I run up the corridor, spotting Toby just as he exits through a doorway some way down from me, I rush after him.
As I get to the door I notice a sign.
Roof entrance, no access allowed.
"Well that's bloody great isn't it?" I mutter to myself as I wrench the door open. "Not even locked, how useless can a school be?"
I rush up the stairs, taking two at a time, finally stopping at a door right at the top.
Breathing heavily and cursing myself for my definite lapse in fitness I reach over and open it. Light floods in, and I immediately start shivering as I step outside.
I spot Toby right away, sitting in the edge and staring into the distance, he doesn't seem to have noticed my arrival so I creep over and sit next to him, noticing the way his hands are shaking.
He doesn't move and inch, still just staring out at the tree's, and for a while, I do the same.
After about five minutes he finally speaks. "I'm sorry." He whispers, looking down at his hands in shame.
"For What?" I reply, confusion marring my expression.
"For almost punching you."
I snort. "You wouldn't have managed anyway."
"Don't get too cocky!" He warns. "But that's not important, what's important is that I tried to punch you." He looks down at his hands, rubbing at the left over dried blood that hadn't been washed off. "I really am sorry. But you should know that I don't apologise often." His voice is resolute now. "Don't get in the way of another of my fights, with him or anyone." He spits. "Especially him. That dick." His anger is returning again.
"Oy! Toby! Calm it! Don't make me punch you!"
"I don't fuçking care, it probably serves me right." He responds, emotion draining from his face.
"You know. Your not as bad as you pretend to be."
He studies me for a while. "Don't underestimate me." He says as he stands, turning to walk away back into the building. "And keep out of my business in the future." I hear the door open.
"Kiss my aśs!!" I yell just in time as the door slams behind him. "Here one second, gone the next." I mutter, shivering as I stand. "What a prîck."
