Zacky's POV

We had distracted the kid for a while so Sphinx and Aryn could have their moment.

"I want to go see my mommy." He kept saying over and over.

So we finally decided that enough time had passed and we could go back to Aryn's room.

We rode up the elevator, trying our best to distract Zachary and make him forget that his mom is in the hospital.

But he's really smart.

"My mommy's going to be okay, right Uncle Matt?" He asked in a little voice.

Matt looked down at him and his eyes softened.

He leaned down and picked him up, hoisting him onto his shoulders.

"You want to know a secret, bud?" He asked him.

Zachary nodded and Matt smiled as he tilted his head back and looked up at him.

"Your mommy is one of the strongest people I've ever met in mywholelife." Matt said in a proud voice.

"Really? In your whole life?!" Zachary exclaimed.

"Yeah seriously." Matt said with as much enthusiasm as my son.

"Mommy's really strong then, huh?" Zachary said, his voice full of pride.

"Yeah she is." I said with a smile.

"Let's go see mommy!" He squealed, throwing his hands up in the air.

The elevator dinged and the doors opened.

"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" Zachary chanted down the hallway.

The nurses at the station all smiled at Zachary.

He really is a cute kid.

And he's got the brightest personality.

He just makes you want to smile all the time.

He's the greatest thing I've ever done.

We made our way to Aryn's room and opened the door, all of us marching in.

I saw Sphinx laying in Aryn's bed with her.

Both of them were fast asleep.

I saw that Sphinx had his arm wrapped securely around Aryn's shoulder, and her ear was pressed against his chest, right over his heart.

I don't know why the sound of someone's heartbeat always lulls her to sleep.

She used to do the same thing with me.

Except I don't remember her ever looking as at peace as she does now.

I tried to shake off the feeling of jealousy, cause I really had no right feeling that way about Aryn anymore.

"Mommy?" Zachary said softly.

He could see she was sleeping, and he didn't want to wake her up.

He started squirming around on Matt's shoulders.

His signal that he wanted to get off.

So Matt lifted him off his shoulders, and carefully set him down on the ground.

Zachary walked over to the side of the bed where Sphinx was on and started tapping his leg.

"Inxy?" He whispered.

Sphinx didn't even stir.

So Zachary pinched him on his leg.

"Inxy?" He said a little louder.

Sphinx stirred and slowly opened his eyes.

He looked down and saw Zachary standing there, looking up at him.

"What's up, buddy?" He asked with a yawn.

"I want to lay with mommy too." He said in a small voice.

A smile made it's way across Sphinx's face.

"There's always room for you, kid." He said.

He reached down and Zachary climbed up Sphinx's leg and positioned himself in between Aryn's and Sphinx's chest.

"You gotta be careful with mommy's leg though, okay?" He said.

"Okay Inxy." Zachary said.

He carefully laid his head on Aryn's chest and put his little arm over her ribs.

Sphinx readjusted himself so there would be a little more room for Zachary to lay comfortably.

He still kept his arm around Aryn's shoulder, so now Zachary was using it as a pillow while Aryn wrapped her arm around both him and Sphinx in her sleep.

I looked down at them and I couldn't help but smile.

They really did look like a family.

It was a amazing.

I thought that seeing my son being raised by another man would piss me off.

And at first, it really did.

But my son knows who I am now.

He knows that I love him.

And he knows that I'm never gonna leave him again.

So seeing him interact with Sphinx doesn't make me mad anymore.

It actually makes me feel really relieved.

I'm glad to know that someone who genuinely loves and cares for my son, was helping raise him.

I know he was brought up right.

And it warms my heart just to know that.

I watched as Zachary slowly fell to sleep snuggled in between his mom and Sphinx.

I smiled and relaxed into one of the chairs in Aryn's room.

Now that all the worry was over, I could finally get some sleep.

Well, it was over for now.

Tomorrows another day.
