Chapter Twelve
Hailey's POV

It has been two weeks since we had my parents over for dinner, and today I had my prenatal appointment. I couldn't wait for my appointment as today would be the day that I could see the baby, my baby for the first time.

Yes I have hated the morning sickness, but I haven't had it every day so it wasn't all bad. I also have been tired all the time, my boobs are killing me, and then the cravings I have had, them being ice, literally just ice cubes. And my favourite foods I don't like the taste or smell of so I have stayed away from them. But the worst part of it has to be, that I keep being hormonal. Snapping at Dylan for anything he does, crying if anything goes wrong but then laughing seconds after. It is as if I am bipolar.

Dylan and I have been shopping for maternity wear, since most of my clothes are starting to be tighter on me, and soon I won't be able to fit into any of them. Luckily I had kept my size four clothes so I was now wearing those which felt more comfortable than wearing the tighter clothing. Even though you couldn't actually tell I was pregnant, you would just think I had gained some extra weight.

"You ready to go?" Dylan asks as he slips on his jacket, nodding I stand up and follow him to his car.

We soon arrived at the doctors, and sat in front of the nurse. "Hello darling, today we are going to hear the heartbeat of your baby." She says a smile on her face. "But first I have to ask you some more questions." Nodding at her, she begins asking about my diet, asking what foods I'm eating and what drinks I'm drinking. Also she asked if I smoked or not, which I told her I didn't. "Okay darling, I need you to put this on so then it is easier." She passes me a hospital gown; both Dylan and the nurse go out of the room for a moment while I slip it on.

Both return after five minutes, the nurse smiles and gives me instructions to put my legs up, so that she could give me a pelvic exam, as well as give me a pap smear, but also she would test me for any bacterial vaginosis too. After that she tells me that I can get back changed as now the nurse was going to see when I am due.

"Well because I cannot see when you will be due to these, I will need to give you an ultrasound. Are you ready to see your baby?" She asks, smiling at me once she enters room again, me now being back in my normal clothes. "Hailey, pull up your shirt, all the way to the bottom of your breasts. I then will add this gel to your lower stomach, but I will warn you that it will be cold." she says, and I do as I am told and lift my shirt up, then she adds the freezing gel as she had warned previously.

"Now, both of you look at this screen, while I find the heartbeat." She says pulling a machine closer to her but pointing to a TV like screen. Then she puts something on my stomach, it showing a picture on the screen. On the screen it was black but had like white curved lines, she stops when there was like a hole in the curved lines. "One second, I need to get someone to have a look." She says, leaving the screen on as she leaves the room.

Looking at Dylan, who was sat next to me looking at the screen also as confused as I am. "I hope everything is alright." I say quietly.

Dylan grabs a hold of my hand, "It will be fine" He says, trying to reassure me. After my parents went home two weeks ago, I found out why Dylan didn't do anything I asked him to. He was with his dad, since there was a family emergency. Dylan's oldest brother had finally become a dad, I didn't know but he was married and his wife were 38 weeks pregnant, meaning she was two weeks early. I said my apologies to him and sorted it out, I am just happy he got to see his niece, who is healthy and now two weeks old.

Finally, the nurse returned with someone else, the nurse points to the screen sowing something to the other nurse, who nodded then looked at me. "Congratulations, you are pregnant with twins. And both have a strong heartbeat." She smiles at me, pointing to like two little dots. They were our babies. "And according to this, you are due December 14th." She tells us, making me smile even more.

We had a few pictures of them as well as a recording of his or hers heartbeat. Wanting to remember it forever.

"Now just before I let you go, I need to give you some advice for the months to come." The nurse begins, "As you become further into your pregnancy, you will need to do excises which will help with back pain and other things. Lastly, I would recommend you to find a cream or lotion to rub onto your stomach to prevent any stretch marks from appearing." Smiling at her, I take in all the information of what I need to do.

After leaving the doctors, we went to my house to give them one photo as well as one for Alice, and we went to Dylan's house to give them some as well. But we also kept one for the two of us, having two photos, since I would like to make a scrap book of my pregnancy.

I had already begun it, and was taking pictures of my stomach every week, and then I also had photos of the pregnancy tests that I had taken over eight weeks ago. As well as all of that, I was taking notes down at what I was experiencing. Wanting to be able to tell my baby when he or she is older, or maybe even having their own children, to show what I experienced in my pregnancy with them.

For the rest of the day, we were smiling and so happy that we had a healthy growing baby. I added the scan photo onto the next page, making sure that it won't fall out.

And then as we sat down for dinner, which we had ordered pizza in. Since both of us didn't want to cook and both of us fancied pizza for a change, we started talking about the nursery. After all I was eight weeks pregnant now, and would need it finished before I gave birth in seven months' time. But we also had to have double of everything since we would be bringing two babies home.
