September 2017,

For a girl who had spent her whole life under the watchful eyes of her parent and aunty with no friends nor an expose to the outside world, being nervous about going to a boarding school is a normal thing.

I couldn't sleep a wink last night, I kept picturing different scenarios in my head about the school, how it looks like, are their bullies, popular kids, the nerds, will my roommate be nice, will I ran into the popular kids on my first day or will I join the nerds. Please, don't blame me for imagining things like that, blame it on those high school stories that I have read.

Meet me, Am Donnica Kingsley, the only child of Mr and Mrs Paul Kingsley, I turned 17 on May 17th and I want to share to you my experience at Blake high School.

My aunty offered to take me to my new school, As I packed my bags into her car, I shouted in my mind, goodbye my home tutor, goodbye Rony and goodbye Julia.

Excitement erupted in me as I saw the school gate, my aunty looked at me and smiled. I could remember that a man in blue uniform opened the gate and saluted us. As soon as she parked her car, I packed my bags and followed her to the administrative block. The woman who attended to us is one hell of a funny woman, fat with a robust cheek and a round head with a low cut. She welcomed me to the school, she checked my payment receipt and offer me a map of the school, my school uniform, timetable and at last my room key, "River Benue, B12, I wish you a happy stay", she said and dismiss me.

"Here you go girl," my aunty said.

"This is your first freedom from home, make friends, have fun and make sure you call a lot."

"Sure," I said.  We did high five and she left.

I looked at the School as I tried to find my room with the help of the map. It was a very beautiful School who smelt of money and wealth, least I forget Blake high School is a school for the elites and my parents were able to afford it because I am their only Child.

My hostel was the 2nd out of the two girls hostel, River Benue was boldly inscribed on it and River Niger on the other. I entered the hall to meet an heaven on Earth, the walls were painted with beautiful turquoise blue with some gold and orange, the floor is tiled with gold tiles.

Wow, am already loving this School.
A is on the right side and B on the left. I found my room and entered. The room is painted with bright yellow and pink. There are two beds on each side of the wall, the corner beside the bed on each side, is where the wardrobe, chair, table and bookshelf is. Wow, we both has all we need without a need to share.

A girl with braids on her head was sitting on the chair on the left manipulating her phone and with headphones in her ear and she will probably be my agemate.

I dropped my bags and moved to her front, she noticed me and removed her headphone, her eyes went to my bags and she gave me a smile.

"You are my roommate." She said and it sounds more like a statement than a question but I still nod my head and enter the room with my bags.

"Wow, you are welcome to BHS, Am Linda."

"Donnica," I said.

"Nice meeting you Donnie, let's arrange your bags, it's almost lunch time."

An hour later, we sat down tired on her bed with all my stuffs well arranged in the right position. Linda is a sweetheart not some crazy or hell of a roommate who hate the new girl immediately as we do read in some books.

"Since when have you been in this school," I asked her.

"Since first year and this is my final year, my former roommate, Avril, graduated three months ago, am happy you are my new roommate, you are very beautiful."

She said and I smile, I rarely get comment like that from people, yes cause I relate with a fixed number of people

"I have two close friends in the school, Amy and Isabella. Amy is the real definition of being crazy and Bella, well Bella is just Bella." She said just as the bell rang.

"Oh, that's for lunch, let's go and get some energy giving food for our tired body," she said and we left the room for the dining.

ust like every other place in the school, the dining is a beauty and smelt of money. The food served was rich and delicious so much that I bite myself. Three different meals were cooked and you can collect food as many times as you want provided it is within lunch period.

It was scanty, Linda said it's because most students are resuming tommorow morning including her two friends.

Although students were yet to resume, the few that were around carried themselves with class and style. Everyone looked expensive so much that I found myself out of place.

I looked around for the nerd or populars but I found nothing, maybe, they are yet to resume, I thought.

After lunch, Linda gave me a tour of
the School, the library, basket ball court, tennis lawn, the School field, my class to mention just a few and as usual, I was impressed.

I must admit, coming to this school is not a mistake.

Donnica met everhappy Linda today, the girl who is always ready to offer everyone a smile, who doesn't want a roommate like that. Who is she meeting next?, till next chapter.
