1. Avoid the Common Relief Trap
*don't have a character that only says something funny. No one is just a person who only says funny jokes. There should be more than just funny and humor.
2. Break Up the Tention
*if at a very tense scene, maybe throw in a random, funny joke or comment.
3. Put Yourself in the Character's Shoes.
4. Choose Your Words Wisely
*go for it.
*do not tiptoe around it.
5. Whatever You Do, Do NOT Punch Down
*it's all about timing
*look to break tension
*look for a golden moment
