Blake sighed and closed his eyed for a second so he could work out how to react. Miranda was a shaking mess on his lap and when he finally looked up, her blue eyes were huge and terrified. Blake took a deep breath and leaned forward, closing his eyes as he planted a smoochy kiss on her exposed shoulder blade.

Miranda immediately hung her head and sighed, she was fairly certain what this reaction meant.

"It's negative, isn't it?" She choked out and Blake frowned at how hoarse her voice sounded. He very slowly nodded and his heart broke as her face crumpled.

Blake put the test down and turned her trembling body as she started to cry on his lap. His strong arms quickly pulled her against him so that her torso was pressing in to his, her face resting on his collarbone. Blake's hands reached around her body and found their way under her tank top. He knew skin to skin contact was more calming, so he rubbed her back in soothing circles as she sobbed.

"It's okay." He whispered in her ear as he did his best to soothe her, but he knew his words didn't mean anything. She had her heart set on that test being positive and it was really hitting her hard.

Blake knew this was a time where he just needed to be there for her. His words wouldn't help, but he knew that his silent presence and his firm embrace could speak more than words ever could. Miranda cried in to him for a good 45 minutes, before Blake could feel that her tense muscles were starting to relax.

He waited for her to calm down a little more, before she pulled her head back and Blake's heart broke again as he looked at how miserable her face looked. Her eyes were red and puffy, her nose snotty and her cheeks a deep crimson.

Blake rubbed his thumb over her cheek and handed her a wad of toilet paper to blow her nose in to. When she handed it back, stringy and wet, he tried not to scrunch up his face as he threw it in the small trash can next to the toilet.

"What are we going to do?" She asked very quietly after a couple minutes of sniffling and Blake squeezed her thigh firmly with one hand and rubbed her bare hip with his other.

"We're just going to try again." He assured quickly and Miranda sighed, obviously frustrated.

"We weren't even trying." She argued and this time it was Blake's turn to sigh. He knew he couldn't keep this argument up any longer. For the sake of her happiness and mental health, he needed to be the man and give her the baby she wanted so badly. He had his doubts, but he knew he would come around.

"We'll try properly, okay?" He tried to assure her gently, using his thumb to rub her hip. "We'll get there, I promise."

Miranda sniffled again, but there was the slightest glimmer of hope in her eye. She was disappointed, but she was so glad to hear Blake give in to her. It wasn't that she wanted to ignore his concerns, but this was important to her and she knew he would be as actively involved in every step as he could possibly be.

"Okay." She whispered as she wiped her nose on her arm and Blake leaned in to kiss her forehead. He wanted to pick her up and try and get a baby inside her right then and there, but she was delicate and fragile in that moment and he couldn't have sex with her while she was so vulnerable, it wouldn't feel right.

"You okay?" Blake asked gently, knowing it was a stupid question but not knowing what else to do.

Miranda nodded and sniffled again to try and clear her head out.

Blake placed both hands on her hips and leaned close so he could place a soft kiss on her swollen lips. Miranda closed her eyes and kissed him back, but she wasn't feeling very passionate. She just wanted the day to be over.
