After that James and Riley both decided to sleep. It was one of the best sleeps Riley had in a while, not having to worry about all her hidden problems as much.
She woke up the next day with James family piling into the room.
"James you could have woke me up before" she quietly hissed at him while attempting to fix her hair a little.
"whoops" he chuckled before going and getting hugs from his parents.
Riley closed her eyes and turned her back to them, partly because she was tired and partly in attempt to block them all out.
"Riley, come and say hi to my parents" James spoke up a few minutes later, causing Riley to feel anxious. Either way she sat up in bed and smiled. "Hi".
"Hello there, how are you feeling today?" Riley's dad asked her politely.
"I'm good, how are you?" she said attempting to make conversation- something she never really had to do.
"We're good thank you. So, what time are your parents coming to pick you up?" His dad asked. What?
"uh uhm" Riley murmured confused.
"We're getting discharged today, remember?" James glanced at her worriedly.
"Ohh yeah, sorry i'm still a bit dozey from my sleep" Riley said, laughing it off.
"Ah okay" laughed his mom. "In that case we will leave you to pack your things in peace" she said while slinging her leather purse ofer her shoulder.
"O-okay" Riley fake smiled, as they left the room. James didnt once look back. He didnt even say goodbye or see you later.
Riley felt her arms start to shake and she gripped onto the sides of the hospital bed. Her palms began to sweat as her breathing picked up. It was a good 5 minutes before her panic attack was over, and it wasnt until it was that she realised someone with their arms wrapped around her.
James.
"Hey are you okay" he whispered, sitting on the side of the bed.
Riley gulped and nodded "im fine, but why are you back here?"
"I forgot my phone charger.." he said holding it up. I nodded my head slowly, feeling unsure of what to say or do. He just saw me panicing.
"Well um your family are probably waiting.." i mumbled, not purposly meaning to sound cold. I just didnt know what else i was supposed to say. I didnt wamt him questioning me. I think James somehow read my mind; and did the exact oposite of what i wished for.
"So um what are you still doing in here?" He asked, still sat on the bed and looking down at his hands.
"Um im going home soon. Was just about to eat my breakfast" i said staring at the tray of food which a nurse had left on the bedside table a few minutes before. It was just am excuse- i had no intention of eating the unappetising slop. Id be surprised if James believed me since i hadnt actually been seen eating anything since arriving here.
"Okay then" he said getting up and walking to the door. A part of me wanted him to stay however i brushed the feeling off as he glanced at me one last time, showing me his dimpled.
Then i was alone again.
