Today I sat outside in the rain,
Despite the the icy water falling from the sky,
I took the first barefoot step in mud,
And I still do not know why.
But I realized I had never felt so miserable,
My body shaking more with every chill,
While still being happy and content,
Not worrying about what I feel.
And a drop fell on my cherry cheeks,
One at first, then two, three, four and five,
I was glad for the freezing rain,
Because it made me feel alive.
